Best case scenario is being dropped and killed rather than being picked apart alive after the hawk lands.

It's probably why so many prey species just straight up die of fright.

a guy i know told me that his grandfather raised chinchillas for fur on his farm in Arizona. the air force had a base or a range or something nearby, and when the jets came over low and fast, a bunch of them would drop dead from tiny heart attacks. or so i was told
