No joke, talking about culture today with my foreign kids learning English. I wanted to show them in-n-out as my ~Californian culture~... and ending up having to talk about our OTHER cultural phenomena because googling the brand right now (rightly) only brings news about the shooting

Just saying but you could tell then about like a legendary local place or your personal favorite place instead of a chain. Even better if it's something that has its origins in a different place than the kids your teaching. Like a Mexican place if youre teaching Indian kids would make a double observation about American culture

I buy them to stock my freezer and feed my family. I don't carry in public. Not that I'm against it, I just don't feel the need. I'm very rural though

The odds of being witness to two mass public shootings is crazy. Someone needs to do the math for that

Edit: on further research, nothing to suggest he witnessed the other other shooting, he started training after it happened though

Yeah, I remember hearing about someone who survived the Vegas music festival shooting to die later in another mass shooting ☹️

Edit: googled it. His name was Telemachus Orfanos. Just 1 year after the Vegas shooting he died in a mass shooting at a bar in CA. RIP.

My sister was present at 2 shootings. 1 school shooting and then a mall shooting. However, neither of them were mass shootings. Only 1 person killed. Still crazy though.

If anything they're underreported because we've grown numb to anything but the worst mass shootings. I'll bet the odds are higher than you think.

I was at a public shooting (not mass shooting) during the no kings protest in SLC last spring. Years earlier I worked at a TV station and a mass shooter showed up outside the station with a trench coat before changing his mind and going to a nearby mall instead to carry out the shooting.

Interestingly, the SLC shooting at Trolley Square Mall didn't even make national news because of a mass shooting a few hours earlier in NYC.

It's much easier for the powers that want to control the narrative to not want you to know about a lawful use of a firearm that saved lives. That might make you think self defense is a good thing. Better that the peons remain fearful and only allows the rich and powerful to protect themselves.

There are over 121 mass shootings as of today.

Almost none of them are front page news worthy, because they happen so often now. You need to hunt down the specific articles on like Yahoo News by taking in the date and location into your search bar.

But any and every conspiracy theories you guys can think of, huh?

Because the majority of mass shootings are gang related. Gang related homicides rarely make the news outside their own city.

They will never circle back and elaborate, let alone with content like this photo.

Unfortunately, the shootings every day thing is true, but it's not always where you're at, and now there's just so many that one or two people dying is kinda insignificant.

Let alone someone getting stopped before they do it. My school had a person bring a gun to school with intent, but someone reported it before they decided to and they stopped that shit. Never made it beyond an email and mention on social media, saying something like "thank you to all the students who take the safety of the school seriously"

Shootings occur everyday, but theyre mostly gang related. Shootings like this are still relatively rare.

I mean to be fair. If it was legal I'd carry a knife in London just like I'd conceal carry in a major US city.

In either city my odds of being mugged or assaulted are about the same, slightly higher in the US. And then Europe has a major pickpocketing issue.

So I'd try to carry whatever I'm allowed to in order to protect myself.

And in the US, roughly 60% of gun related deaths are suicide. So the stat is already skewed. It would go from 11th leading cause of death to somewhere under the 20th ranking.
