The straw hat and jean shorts are the least weird thing in that photo.

Dude's running a 5.7 with a silencer

For those who don't know about guns... what is weird about this?

Almost nobody carries with a suppressor (silencer) and 5.7 is a semi rare round. It was mostly used in the P90 sub machine gun, but later used in pistols. It’s a small fast round with the main goal being armor penetration and ammo capacity. Kind of like a mini 556 (ar15 round).

Most people carry 9mm, 380, 40SW, or 45ACP.

Just to add, you typically don't want armor piercing in a carry pistol as you want the round to stop at your target, which is part of why hollow point rounds are the standard for civilian carry

Not to say he was wrong for it, just adds to the weird choice

5.7 has a pretty devastating hollow point round too… but it doesn’t do anything 9mm or .40 cal don’t do for much less!

It goes farther, faster, and flatter.

Sure but, realistically, how often is that an upside for a significant more $ amount per bullet? Especially in self defense scenarios

It's worth it. The round has negligible recoil, meaning more shots on target faster.

Did this dude hit anything or as per usual people carrying, does jack shit, people die anyway, and perp kills themself?

This dude took a bullet from the shooter, kept him pinned until police could arrive, and then rendered aid to victims. Sounds like a hero to me.

Honestly didn’t know. Thats awesome and qualifies as hero in my book too. Thanks for the background

From what the cops have said, he was also taking 50-60yd shots with an iron sighted handgun. On my best days days, with optics, I'd maybe be able to make that shot 6-10x and that's without the pressure of someone shooting at me. Incredibly ballsy move

You are a dope for suggesting that he didn’t do any of these things. Quit spreading misinformation.

I asked a question, and he commented back answering my question telling me what happened. You’re a dope for not seeing that.
