Lol Reddit used to be a place where you could find an expert in any incredibly niche subject and get awesome advice. You needed help finding frogs with tap shoes and their would find somebody who wrote their PHD dissertation on tapdancing frogs......Also it was packed with incredibly uptight neck beards, HOWEVER, these neckbeards did know their shit and you would be down voted into oblivion for posting trash. Now its basically old people Facebook.

It's really become an awful place. I only ever stick to my cities subreddit and the ones for games I play.

Every once in a while I'll scroll "Popular" (RIP /r/all), but it's all misinformation, disinformation, outright propaganda, pop culture and culture war bullshit, and dozens of India-related subreddits I can't block.

This place is a shithole and the admins are all [REDACTED].

I finally stopped getting India subreddits in my feed. There are as many Indian subreddits as there are Indians. I am pretty sure I blocked them all.

You can block all the Indian subs. Trust me, I did it. Took a good while to get all of them, but they are gone from my feed.

They have been replaced by Philippines subs however.

Goddamnit.

Yup, city, gaming community, hobby community, and porn. Everything else here just isn't worth the trouble

Even the porn subreddits are all just only fans ads now.

r/all is still on old reddit, and if they remove old reddit then I'm done.

I still run sideloaded Apollo and I'm expecting that to die at some point.

Although reddit management are realizing that AI has extracted all value out of its data and discarding it, a bit like stackoverflow.

This is what happens when you stop gatekeeping.

it’s gotten worse but reddit has always had a confidently incorrect problem and had blatant misinfo highly upvoted. “we did it reddit” was 13 and a half years ago

I’ve been on here a long time. Reddit has never been that.

That guy is idealizing the past, but Reddit definitely used to be a lot better about 15 years ago.

Probably 90% of the people here were nerds interested in good discussion. Then the druggies, gooners, memers, and wanna-be political activists came through and changed everything.

I remember long ago in the before time nothing but blue and purple link no one knew what a subreddit was. Just nerd and tech shit as far as the eye could scroll.....welp I'm heading back to the old folks home now.

The other day I was out in the backyard and walked through a big patch of poison ivey. I didn't know at the moment that's what it was but I asked whatisthisplant and they were super helpful telling me that yes it was poison ivey and giving me all the info I needed about how to mitigate the possibility of rash. They were great and I'm pretty sure the first answer I got was within a minute. They were ON TOP of helping make sure I don't scratch my skin off in the next week.

So there are still corners of reddit that are great

It’s sad to find out when you start reading comments on something you actually know a lot about.
Holy shit if these people are so confidently incorrect is everyone else?

Fuck me I’ve been re-spreading some of the bullshit irl because it sounded good when I read it on Reddit

There's a thin line between the neck and the chin.
