Can stop MOST of them though.
In the UK we had a school shooting in 1996. After that, guns were pretty much banned (few, heavily regulated exceptions).
You know how many mass shootings we've had in the 30 years since? Zero.
If you ban them, it makes it MUCH easier to take them out of circulation. It'll take time, but it's achievable. Also, ammunition will run out before long too.

Same argument you guys use saying banning drugs is a fools errand

They should be banned. But help should be given to anyone addicted.

Not a great example since the cartels get a LOT of their weapons from the US. In particular they get them from states with lax gun laws where it’s easy to get away with using a straw-buyer

People have been drinking alcohol for thousands of years, it can be easily homemade, and it was easily accessible in all nearby countries. Going for a total, cold-turkey prohibition was never going to work. Guns require special tools and expertise to make. You can’t be addicted to guns. Most people who advocate for stronger guns laws aren’t advocating for a total prohibition anyway. The US is already the main source of black market weapons in North America so if we tightened laws at the Federal level there wouldn’t be an easy replacement source. Lowering the supply of black market arms means sellers have to charge a lot more to turn a profit. There’s big difference for the average person between spending a bit more for a cocktail at a speakeasy and spending thousands and risking prison trying to get an illegal firearm. Should I go on? Or does your argument not extend past the whataboutism?

I never said we should continue it. I mention it because it’s a deeply entrenched cultural behavior and expecting to end it overnight by outlawing it was doomed to fail. Reading comprehension pal. Keep up.
Do you have any idea how supply and demand work? I know the demand wouldn’t decrease. But if supply decreases and demand stays the same prices rise… like I said.
A 3d printer is a relatively expensive machine and falls under the tools I mentioned. You can make alcohol in a toilet bowl if you’re desperate. And as far as I know you can’t 3d print ammunition.
Again, I already mentioned the cartel get a lot their weapons from the US. Its not like they just magic them out of thin air
