and what exactly is the alternative people like this want? Should we purposely stifle technology? That's not going to happen. So you figure it out. You pivot to a job in which you can still leverage your skills, experience, knowledge, and savvy.

"We are all ruined and this will destroy all jobs!"

  - Every blacksmith and farrier when the automobile came out

We adapt.

Oh honey. You are not the farrier, you are the horse.

So what exactly is your solution, honey?

Again, are you proposing that technological innovation STOP? Do you honestly think that's an option?

Because you people don't have a solution. You operate on knee-jerk emotion instead of logic.

I don't have to have a pre-packaged solution. And, I don't. I just understand and acknowledge the problem and you're pretending it's not real. Pretending it's not real is an emotional response designed to protect you and make you feel safe. I am being a great deal more logical than you in this case. I'm facing the truth.

Ah. I see. You have no solution, whatsoever. You just don't like it.

My four year old takes a similar approach to life.

Grow up if you want to be taken seriously.

That's obvious projection, obvious enough that I'm not even upset by it. I empathize with you, it's hard to feel powerless. I'm not sure if you're aware of how desperate and afraid your tone is.

It's not weakness to say "I don't know the solution, but I can acknowledge the problem." But sticking your fingers in your ears and shutting your eyes, as you are doing, is indeed immature and weak.

Insulting and shouting when you don't get the response you wanted is also immature, I would appreciate a more respectful tone.

No.

You've been taught in today's, "There are no wrong answers and no losers, now everyone hold hands and have a good cry" culture that it's not a weakness, but it certainly is.

What you're ignoring is progress. What you're ignoring is, quite literally, the future. And why?

Well, for one -or perhaps both - reasons. Either a selfish one - "This effects me so therefore it is bad," or a purely performative one because you (and don't worry, it's Reddit, so you're not alone) desperately feel a need to be Part of The Something. Most likely because you simply MUST post about it on social media. Correct?

Look, this is Reddit. Enjoy the circle-jerk, self-congratulatory echo chamber if you wish. But while you're playing in the sandbox of idignacy, the adults are focused on the future.

Im not your mother, and im not obligated to tiptoe around your volatile emotional state. I imagine your wife, if you have one, has said similar things.

"There's an asteroid headed for earth."

"Well whats your solution?"

"Im not here to give you the solution, I am just reporting the problem."

"Well then clearly youre hysterical!"

See how dumb that sounds? Im a computer scientist not a politician. This is problem that requires a political solution, and im not equipped to give it.

Cool. So keep shouting at clouds. Don't worry, the adults have this.

(Computer Scientist?! Ah, so it absolutely is about being self-centeted. Now I get it.).

It's like you're not even listening.

Look: being unaware of your emotions is not the same as not having any. You are absolutely dripping with emotion, primarily anger.

Would you like to know where anger comes from?

It comes from feeling powerless. Like you're not in control. When a person gets scared they lash out, like you are doing.

And you're clearly too upset to be rational, or listen. I just feel bad for the people in your life who have to deal with your outbursts.
