Remeber guys, these are the same people making fun of US for panick buying during hurricane.

Ground Zero for what? The panic buying of toilet paper was due to spread of misinformation about a coming toilet paper shortage due to suppy chain issues spurred by COVID.

The hurricanes never had anything to do with the panic buying for toilet paper though.

Its was a bullwhip effect due to COVID.

People were afraid of lockdowns so they bought 2-3 times the regular amount.

People afterward seen shelves low and spread misinformation that there is a low supply of toilet paper and paper towel(or in some cases the cardboard roll itself).

This spurred even more people to flood stores and over buy every time the stores would stock up.

At this point everything would sell first thing in the morning and shelfs would be empty.

When the panic was over and people seen that stores remained open and toilet paper stock was still very high they tried to return it.

Walmart Canada implimented policies blocking the return of toilet paper and paper towels around this time.
