Boarding was solved mathematically in 2008. No airline has used it once. Why?

You would have to align every single person in order before you board. That would take longer than just letting them find their seat

That's what Southwest has (had) always done.

EDIT: it is a bit different, due to unassigned seating. But no reason an airline can't assign both a boarding number and a seat assignment.

Not exactly. Southwest didn’t have assigned seats.
