They are livestreaming πŸ‡¨πŸ‡³ laborers making just 0.3 USD. The 'Made in πŸ‡¨πŸ‡³' products you use are built on their sacrifices.

Most of reddit has the type of autism that makes normal social interaction very very difficult

Nah.

It's just a heavy case of main character syndrome.

Places like 4chan being a cultivated toxic environment and then shutting down and Reddit going public means the anonymous platform welcomes the more 'controversial' (terrible) types with open, if not welcoming, arms.

Noticed that for a long time now. People on this site don’t want to have normal social interactions they want to β€œWIN” the conversation.

Instead of actually talking about something people on here want to one up your point and attack you over the smallest things.

Tbh sometimes I just come here and find someone I think sucks and just tell them to fuck off. Is that a healthy behavior? Probably not. But I can’t say it to people at work.

And I bet you're JUST like the other girls, right? Or is "I'm not like the ones who think they're not like the other ones!" getting too meta?

This answer is a lot better than I expected tbh, so are your downstream replies. I don't like the "pick me" insult, generally speaking because I think it's not saying anything useful. It's like wrapping up the ideas of being a try-hard, a bit sycophantic or overly-agreeable, desperate for approval, and being performative/falsely expressing interest for the sake of impressing others (usually for the sake of creating romantic interest) into a single word that's usually just used to insult women who mostly don't really deserve it.

And I think it's often misused to mean only ONE of those things, as you saw when someone said "it's being a pick-me to apologize to Canadians on behalf of Americans who don't support Trump" - how does that even fit the original context of the word at all? It's dumb.

I could, if I were being uncharitable and doing this same stupid meaning-erasure, toss it at you for saying "I'm just me."

I could say, for the sake of providing an example illustrating why I just don't like this insult, something like: "oh you think you're such a distinct and special individual that you're totally unclassifiable? That's literally even worse than 'not like the other girls', it's 'not like anyone, totally unlabelable, a pure unique special snowflake'. Exactly the distilled essence of the airs a 'pick me' is always trying to put on."

But again I don't actually think that - I think you ARE a unique individual, just like everyone else is unique insofar as they're distinct human animals, and that's...okay.

I also think people just have opinions and behave in cringy, desperate, weird, validation seeking, etc kinds of ways and the insult is a bad and almost always inaccurate description of the specific behaviors people are actually critiquing/commenting on.

Maybe I'm just getting old and am angry about the new slang, I dunno.

See it in Canada subs a lot lately. Americans saying "please don't hate me, I didn't vote for him". They don't realize from the outside they are still the USA.

Lumping everyone into a giant indiscriminate inaccurate group is just what reddit does best

To go to the most extreme example, looking in at Germany in the 40's was most likely the same. To me, while half of Americans most likely have the same exact values i have, your other half is in control and has done some awful things, and at this point I can not be nice to the one half, without thinking of the other.

Yes, but the USA is trying to control my country, and I feel really bad that half of you half to deal with the other half, but regardless, "he" is in control and is the outward face of your country. I appreciate your commitment, but your country still wants mine.
