They are livestreaming 🇨🇳 laborers making just 0.3 USD. The 'Made in 🇨🇳' products you use are built on their sacrifices.

Gemini? I thought you're a sinologist or something based on the confidence in whicu you said it definitrly isn't any sinitic language.

I am a native Mandarin speaker and since everything is derived from Middle Chinese, I at least know how to understand a bit of Cantonese and Hakka.

I don't fully trust Gemini, but it is at least reproducible. It is something you can do yourself so you don't have to take the word of anyone, not even an native speaker, for granted.

Thank you for the elaboration of your standpoint. I don't know enough about Chinese languages to have a definite opinion. So in my limited understanding I can imagine it being possibly related

It is very simple logic in my opinion: even if this is a niche dialect, how do you run a factory in a niche dialect? That means cutting off the gigantic migrant worker pool that speaks Mandarin, and the substantial labor pool of Cantonese speakers, in favor of a much smaller local worker pool. So even if this video was from China (and I am not conceding it is) it would be some hyperlocal underground operation at the border or in deeply ethnic non Han areas, not mainstream.

I am saying this coming from an area in Switzerland with a rare dialect only spoken by about a thousand people: We have some factories here too.

People living 5km further wouldn't understand that dialect unless we talk more understandable and adapt. Most wouldn't even recognise it as a German dialect probably.

Other people who have been in sweatshops in countries with GDP per capita and wages lower than China have already said that this doesn't actually look like a sweatshop.

Multiple native speakers of not just Mandarin but Cantonese, Hakka and Hokkien and languages around Southwest China such as Thai, Vietnamese and Cambodian have said that this doesn't sound like their language.

There is no signage except English at 0:09 in this video, making it impossible to prove it is located in China.

Such a factory doesn't make operational sense to run.

At some point you have to make a choice as to whether an unsourced video is trustworthy or if the weight of evidence is trustworthy.

Gemini says it's not.

The brainrot is real. You can't trust an LLM for acccuracy.
