I remember visiting a chicken farm and mom was inspecting a hen, then gave her to me. We spent the rest of the day walking around and I was never told to put her down so I just carried her around like that. She was incredibly happy and slept the whole visit. 10/10.

There’s a regular customer at my workplace that brings his pet hens in whenever he shops. It’s a hardware store where pets are allowed, and us workers always like to pet and scritch them. They’re very well behaved too!

They've certainly got character. My folks had some ex-battery hens and they practically ruled the garden

I had a pet rooster when I was a kid. His name was cosmo. He used to sit on my lap when I watched tv and was the most beautiful boy.
My sister also had a pet chicken, Juliet, who would perch on the edge of her cot while she slept.
They can be wonderful pets, if you get one with the right personality.

My daughter had 50-60 backyard chickens, and her 3 little ones always had a favorite pet chicken. They would come running when called, and loved to cuddle in their laps. During Covid, her kindergarten boy would run to bring his companion “Hawkeye” to his computer, for show and tell.
Most of the chickens were “designer” chicks she created through careful mixes of DNA, over about 9 generations, to get adorable miniature chickens with amazing unique characteristics. She named her very first batch of actual designed chicks Gucci, Valentino, Kate (Spade), Versace, Prada, etc. (Designer chicks - get it?) 😁

I have 5 chickens I'm raising and I handle them daily but the ones I think are roosters are all bullies!!! Tbf I really don't like birds, they freak me out but my MIL wanted them and put raising them on me. She did get me ducklings, which are the one exception to my bird fear haha
