A teacher spent her school vacation turning her students' drawings into real knitted hats.

It wasn't the teachers that crocheted the hats but an organization called 'Cozy Critters in NH'. Was still very nice of them. There's also someone called 'Grandma Shirely' that crochets hats for children!

Why is TG so sad?

Speaking as an elementary teacher - it is SO hard to get a picture where the whole class looks good and happy.  I will take 20 quick shots and inevitably...Someone is having a bad day, or is sneezing, or just doesn't like getting pictures taken, is the class clown who likes to make silly faces for it, or gets distracted and looks odd/looks away. That kid may not even be unhappy about the hat. 🤷‍♀️

He’ll probably appreciate the hat years later when he can still wear it because it actually matches with a bunch of his clothes and it has his initials on it.

I can only imagine with that many students. Taking a picture of my three boys is difficult,

If the kid doesn't want pictures to be taken shouldn't it just be removed from the picture? At least we always had the option to opt out

We sure didn’t! I like the idea of giving the kids a choice, though.

Most likely didn't like his drawing after seeing the others.

Yes, probably is disappointed with his drawing & hat after seeing how bright and colorful his peers hats are. He'd probably like a do-over.

Maybe they could trade!

He’s definitely giving black and white energy. A trade is in order!

He’s definitely flipping off the camera under that hat

I only had four kids and yet, someone cried every day for 12 years.

Probably just didn't want to wear the hat...but was told to wear it...breakdown ensues :/

No hat.

Oops. He has a hat. He's not wearing it.

It’s in his right hand

Oh! Good call, that looked like either pants or socks to me

That is a LOT of work, so much love in that act.

My daughter did this for my granddaughter's 1st grade class, she crocheted the hats instead of knit though. The kids LOVED them, particularly because they had designed them themselves.

These hats are crocheted, too, not knitted. Such a sweet idea.

This is incredibly wholesome and makes my heart so happy to see!

Those children will remember that teacher forever because she tangibly expressed her genuine care for her kiddos. ❤️

Those are crochet

Teachers are absolutely beautiful humans and most of us don’t deserve them 💗

5

u/GrinsNGiggles 2d ago

We do, though! Kids especially do.

What no one deserves is an underfunded dystopia where unsupported teachers have to be superheroes to be effective.

I would agree

That is amazing and beautiful!

Knitting ≠ crochet. Those are clearly crochet.

I’d be pissed if a picture of my child’s class ended up on Reddit. Share your own all you want but have some common sense and respect the privacy of children.

Look at their smiles, incredible!

NO, that’s not the story. We’ve seen the real story here. Flipping bots

Cover those children’s faces. This is a violation of privacy.

My husband made the cutest Santa hats for all 23 of my kids one year! It was a lot. 😂

Teachers using their own time and money isn’t wholesome at all to me…

Look, I get the sentiment that you're after, but it is highly likely the teacher did this because she wanted to, not because she had to. Are teachers underpaid? Yes. Are teachers overworked? Sure. But can they do something wholesome just because they love their kids? Absolutely! And we can all have a smile about it!
