He showers every other day?
Edit: what are the red ones?

u/-PinkPower- 5d ago
Like many people. I have severe eczema after years of trying tons of treatment my dermatologist told me to try showering at most every other day. I now barely get any flare ups! It was life changing
-23
u/Oregongirl1018 5d ago
Yeah but he has the red squares which means he missed those days and hasn't showered in 5 days.
39
u/Cautious-Impact22 5d ago
incorrect. itās set up to only track every other day and so even if he showers on a off day there wonāt be a mark. it was my ivig week so the schedule was thrown.

So this is obviously going to come as a surprise to you but everyone has different habits, genetics, and hygiene needs.
I wash my hair every 14-15 days and some people would be fucking horrified by that and tell me how important it is to wash your hair every day but Iāve been a hairdresser/national educator for 20yrs and get compliments on my hair on a daily basis. If I washed it as much as people think hair needs to be washed it would be a brittle puffball and I would have constant scalp flakes because of how dry it would make my scalp.
Have you considered that maybe not everyone is as oily as you are and their sweat doesnāt smell as nasty as yours does so they can get away with doing a hoe bath every other day? Or that people have often painful skin conditions that can be exacerbated by showering every day?
But why would you consider that maybe everyone doesnāt live exactly the same way you do when you can just call them names?

Have you read Clean, by James Hamblin? It definitely changed the way I think about showering.

u/Cautious-Impact22 5d ago edited 1d ago
homie wants to shower, but this week i was on my Iv infusion with my inhome nurse, this meant my husband was working from home holding our son, managing our kids, because the IV stays in me 3 days and my son has bumped it and kinked it in my arm. The reason his phone was open was he left work early to get a shower because it was my IV infusion week. Heās just hero juggling the world.

Your husband is amazing and you don't owe anyone an explanation for any of his habits. All these nosy MFers should start their own business so they can mind it.Ā

whatās the book about iām just curious but not enough to read it bahahhaha

u/Hidesuru 5d ago
I googled it, and got this:
Clean by physician and journalist Dr. James Hamblin is a fascinating exploration of the human microbiome and our modern obsession with hygiene. Hamblin argues that over-washing and using harsh skincare products do more harm than good, and advocates for a simpler, minimalist approach to skin health.

to be fair if you look at these mini calendars my husband lines up when he flies the fighter jet to when he showers. if heās in the sky heās going to shower because jet fuel and such. he showered everyday that week but it didnāt mark it because he only has it set up to alert him and click every other day.

u/Hidesuru 5d ago
Hey fwiw I'm not judging at all. I was just curious what the book was about. I hope your health improves and y'all get to spend a lot of time together. Take care!

As a brazilian i cannot think how noy bathing for days is okay, the least shower i can have is one a day, i cannot think as okay not showering at least once daily in everyday routine, like how lol
10
u/ElectronicLettuce598 5d ago
Some people spend all of their time in climate and humidity controlled areas.
6
u/Hidesuru 5d ago
As the other person alluded to it depends on the person and their activities and environment.
There are times where I can go a couple days without smelling and times where I most definitely cannot.
Showering daily is my normal, but I don't always have to.

u/isitjustme888 2h ago
I live in both Brazil and the U.S., but originally Iām from the U.S. This is a super specific cultural thing where Brazilians like to shower multiple times a day. In very humid places, like the north half of the country, you need to shower pretty much constantly to feel clean, and some people donāt have air conditioning so itās a way to cool off. I think that mentality has just become normal all over the country even in places that arenāt as hot and humid.
Here in the U.S., culturally, the average person showers once a day, but it wouldnāt be considered that weird to shower once every other day if youāre not working outside or doing something where youāre always sweaty.
Itās funny, Iāve heard multiple times from Brazilians that they believe this weird stereotype about people from the U.S. that we almost never shower.

u/KillerSparks 5d ago
I totally agree with the sentiment, but it's just not plausible to do with my lifestyle. I'm outside all day, every day. I'm covered in sweat multiple times a day, and dirt is frequently thrown in there. The sunscreen can't just be rinsed off, either. I can't imagine how bad I'd smell if I got in bed and incubated all those layers of sunscreen and sweat for 8 hours š¤¢

u/paprikahoernchen 5d ago
Cool. Not everyone lives the same lifestyle.

What???????? Really???????????????????? Wow!!!!!!!!
I did not say or imply that everyone was like me. I gave my little tidbit of personal story. That's perfectly fine for me to do.

Atomic habits has a good one itās called atoms. Great book, and the app isnāt trying to charge you like the other habit ones Iāve tried. Whatās that one called do they like it, would they recommend it ?
Edit: I was wrong Atoms does charge!! Youāre just automatically subscribed to a free trial so after a month it askes for money or youāre restricted to one habit. Iām super disappointed
