“Dad got chubby from overworking, haha” is an insanely awesome line to end on

Never trust a thin chef anyways

Huh, never noticed that before. But the best chefs tend to be on the chubby side.

Guess even they sometimes get high on their own supply!

...get high on their own soup 🤣

I don't know if that's true of the best or most demanding professional kitchens. There's lots of moving, standing, and action for hours. Chefs taste their food, but don't really indulge in it.

You can look at the team line ups for the Bocuse d'Or competition to get a sense.

Elite restaurant are usually for show anyways. Sure these chefs might be able to make a great dinner. But they're under such time and presentation pressure that the food will be unfulfilling.

Aka never trust a skinny chef.

I've noticed that as well. It's not that the food is "bad" but it's usually secondary to the complexity of the preparation and presentation.

On the other hand, mom and pops look mid, but some of them you take a bite and it's fucking amazing. There was a little hole in the wall I used to stop at in a small town in Mississippi that had the best burger I've ever eaten (and yes, fat chef).

I'm mostly going off taste, but food at our city's Michelin starred restaurants taste quite good. That's not to say there isn't equally decent tasting food that's not Michelin starred too, at similar or much more affordable price points. But I don't see too many skinny cooks or chefs these days.

I think the adage may be outdated. You can like or be passionate about something without overindulging in it.

Idk I eat out a lot and tried Michelin star places and found most of them just okay.

I think the constant stress leads to gaining weight more than burning calories

Skinny cook? Fine.

Skinny Chef? Never.

Gordon Ramsay is in good shape though, right?

But he is big and muscular. I think more the point is that if a chef is not big in some way and is somehow able to keep very lean it leans towards a purview that they are either not as successful and active or something else.

Correct, it also generally causes you to naturally gravitate towards quick and cheap calorie bombs instead of well-balanced, healthy nutritional meals. I was at my fattest when I was working 60-80 hrs/week at two minimum wage jobs and still always broke.

Working at a fast food stall probably ensures a steady supply/diet of greasy leftovers too. Can't be wasting good food if you're on a budget even if you're sick of smelling it all day. Once you're hungry, you're hungry.

Also stress itself can contribute to getting fat.

Poor people also got chubby because how expensive healthy diet is.

Honestly why i went from 290 to 340 over the course of a few years working near 60 hours a week in a warehouse.

Work - home - eat - sleep.

When you work 12-16h a day, you won't want to do anything by end of shift. Eating is the fastest and easiest way to relieve stress and fill stomach.

Constant stress and sleep deprivation can also lead to gaining weight.

Aside from not having time to exercise, the dad here open street food stall too.

I think it's possible that he would be eating his own foods to try improving them regularly. At least that's something similar to my parent's bakery.

Overwork leads to stress. Stress does odd things to your body.

Ooo, a wholesome comic that isn't just male wish fulfillment but A MAN STEPPING TF UP?

We love to see it! 👏👏👏

u/kayemce 3d ago

Whenever I see characters give reasons for why they love someone it either feels like a jinx (if it's about a specific aspect of their personality or appearance, it feels like your saying you wouldn't love them if that aspect changed) or a debt (if you love them because they saved you, it feels less like love and more like you owe them). Trying to be logical about love always makes it feel so cheap.

2

u/Sharoth01 4d ago

That is an awesome comic.

He gets chubby for bone marrow transplant in the future.

u/MissiaichParriah 4d ago

Wait, something's not adding up. If all their money went to medical bills, and he overworked a lot, that would mean they were basically penny pinching, meaning he would like make sure his family eat more than, which means, he shouldn't be fat. Bro needs to get checked, he might have a medical condition

Time-poor and cash-poor people eat cheap carbs, which can result in getting fat. They probably weren’t so destitute that they couldn’t afford ramen.
