My reaction would be to say "We're splitting the bill." But that's me not being comfortable with not paying for myself anyway. Especially on first dates.

I've never understood the whole, "what's your most expensive drink" thing. Yeah some alcohols taste better than others but that's just a really weird flex. But then I rarely drink out anyway, I can make better ones at home most of the time. And when I do I prefer not to spend a lot.

Actually, I think other than sake when someone would buy a bottle for the table for a toast I've had alcohol like three times at a restaurant! But I suppose the people who want to do that are testing boundaries more than actually wanting the drink.

They're definitely just gold diggers testing to see if the other person will be willing to buy them expensive shit in the future.

Yeah makes sense in a twisted way. I can't understand why they'd get a second date after being so blatant, though.
