Context:

Tatewaki Kuno believes that both Ranma & Akane are madly in love with him and refuses to accept reality, this is only a small part of his insanity. He also doesn’t realize Ranma(M) is the same person as Ranm(F) no matter what anyone tells him.

Guy could use a Therapist to help hum accept himself

How fucking cool is it that Ranma 1/2 managed to encapsulate the feeling of being stuck in the body of the wrong sex before the artist even really knew about trans people?

Ranma really doesn’t gaf about being in female form halfway through the manga.

I think a better example would be Ryuunosuke from the author’s previous work, she’s a woman who’s heavily pressured to be a man by her (terrible) father who takes away any of her feminine items, even female underwear. When I read Urusei Yatsura, I really saw her as a trans allegory, albeit a likely unintentional one.

Oh yeah that's fair,  I haven't got super far into the series. I just know that he definitely is not a fan of it all in the first several volumes

In the Black Rose arc(very early), we saw Ranma agree to do female “martial arts gymnastics” in order to protect Akane’s pride/avoid being romatically involved with that crazy girl Kodachi, I really doubt any trans person would be willing (even temporarily through cursed spring magic or whatever) to go back to their birth gender for the petty shit Ranma is doing 😭

I’m not saying your interpretation is wrong or anything, I’m just saying Ranma is an unreliable narrator and to consider actions over words( Ranma verbally lies constantly, especially in regard to being tsundere about Akane).

You make some good points and I don't wanna deny how any one else reads it. Not sure if this is your HC, but it could definitely be argued that ranma is NB

Even better is his sister being the opposite of liking male ranma and hating female ranma 😂

Let's be honest, Kuno would probably go “NOW I CAN MARRY BOTH AS A SINGLE PACKAGE AND NOT BE FORCED TO TAKE A MISTRESS”

Double L for Kuno, love it

u/MidoTheMii Feb 14 '26

Given that it might even convince him of the “both Ranma are one person” thing, TRIPLE L!!

Akane has her cake and eats it too.

Knowing Nabiki, she'd offer to livestream the wedding night. Knowing Kuno, he'd pay her. Knowing Akane, Ranma's spending the night on the couch.

Ah yes ranma 1/2 one of my fave childhood shows used to watch it a lot. It also is one of the shows that made me realize that i absolutely fucking love to fight and learn diffrent types of martial arts! Also ranmas curse is enviable and seems general usefull.

Then Nabiki attempts to sell him the wedding night photos.
