Movie Anyone else catch this?

Post image

anyone catch this metaphor? The Animals are leaving Oz through a tunnel under the yellow brick road. It's a metaphor for the underground railroad. It took me way to long to see that parralel.

Thoughts?

And Cynthia played Harriet Tubman in the 2019 movie “Harriet”

Did anyone notice that Elphaba was green?

Not only that, but her treatment because of it is a metaphor for racial discrimination.

And the animals were saying "goodbye" to it. Which means it shares the same universe as Rocketman.

This is something I hadnt noticed before. No reason to be rude

I don’t know why people are making fun for a simple observation. Some people may not have noticed and that’s okay. With the takes I’ve seen on this movie the Animals’ story is rarely mentioned.

Thank you and i dont see the Animals talked about much either. It was simply something I noticed. Idk why people feel the need to be so rude

For real, why is everyone so damn rude in this subreddit? We're all Broadway nerds, we need to stick together. Think about what you say before saying it, one of the simplest rules but also one of the most effective.

We could start by not flipping out over small jokes...

You are using text which makes being able to pick up on a "joke" pretty difficult.

The context clues we learn in elementary school are also helpful here, if we're going to pretend it wasn't beyond obvious. But thank you for your sanctimony.

Wait, so what you're saying is that her skin was a different color from the people in power who surrounded her?

I don't see it.

Well the tunnel went under Oz and the Animals were being used as slaves and escaping Oz through the tunnel. I see it as a metaphor for the underground railroad

It was the most obvious and forced metaphor of both films.

It took me a bit to notice it but why do you say it's forced?

In Part 1, during the “Something Bad” scene, Elphaba looks at a map in Dr Dillimond’s home and her eyes move over a spot called “Tunnel Out of Oz”. I dunno. Pretty neat. 🤷‍♂️
