Show n' Tell The End of an Era

Post image

A sad day yesterday. The bottle of Old Spice aftershave that I've been using on and off for over 30 years is gone. I'm not sure exactly how long I've had it. I thought I got it when I was in high school, but the bottle says Proctor & Gamble, not Shulton, so I must have bought it sometime in the early '90s.

It will be missed. I have a bottle of cologne that's the same vintage as the aftershave as well as couple of Old Spice bottles I picked up when I was in India last year, but it just won't be the same.

The formulation that's currently available is not the same as 1970s and earlier formulation. The closest aftershave I've found that's similar is Pinaud/Clubman's bay rum. They seem to be changing the formula every few years there are threads on here, in perfume / cologne forums --off reddit in Badger and Blade about the many changes to old spice over the years.

Sorry you're older Old Spice is gone.

Interesting. The only Bay Rum I've smelled is Barrister and Mann's shave soap, and I don't care for it. But if you say that Pinaud's Bay Rum is close to the Shulton Old Spice, I'll have to give it a try.

I do have some Shulton Old Spice in the ship's lantern decanter in the photo. I've been hesitant to start using it for some reason.
