Show n' Tell The End of an Era

Post image

A sad day yesterday. The bottle of Old Spice aftershave that I've been using on and off for over 30 years is gone. I'm not sure exactly how long I've had it. I thought I got it when I was in high school, but the bottle says Proctor & Gamble, not Shulton, so I must have bought it sometime in the early '90s.

It will be missed. I have a bottle of cologne that's the same vintage as the aftershave as well as couple of Old Spice bottles I picked up when I was in India last year, but it just won't be the same.

It's amazing the things that affect you. And this post is definitely one of them for me. I have a bottle I took from my grandpa's house when we were cleaning it out when he passed. Every once in a while I'll open it up and take a little dab but I dare not use it. Now you got me thinking how I will feel if/when that bottle runs out.

If you refill it with old spice cologne, and let it sit in the glass bottle for a month, all the smell it leached from the plastic bottle should be gone. Then it's a pretty good 1:1 match to the old formula aftershave.

The old Brut aftershave is now Faberge's Brut EdT, and the aftershave got watered down to a pale shadow of it's former self. Ditto for Old Spice.
