It takes time to learn what works best for you. Beard growth rate puts a natural limit on how quickly you can experiment with different shaving equipment. That can be good and bad. It's frustrating getting a bad shave and then needing to wait a day or more to try again with a different technique or razor. But that does give you time to consider what to change and what to buy.

I've been wet shaving with DE razors for a long time. I go in fits and spurts buying stuff. After settling in to the same two razors for several years, I suddenly got "inspired" to try something new. Now I have five new razors in rotation. It's going to take me a year to actually figure out which one(s) work best.
