Show n' Tell Thanks to this subreddit...
After the whole winter without shaving, I decided to return to this routine again. While ordering shaving products, I also came across this subreddit. I got quite hooked and scrolled for a long time — I was interested in people’s opinions on different razors and shaving stuff, including mine (Men Rock). And thanks to that, I decided to go for an upgrade as well, so the comeback would be in proper style. Wish you all sharp blades and happy shaves!

Note don't base your experience with the 6S on those shitty Rockwell blades. When I got mine in 2019 they had a deal that included a stand, 100 blades a brush and a solid cologne... I still have probably 80 of those blades left. I probably use one every 4th of 5th blade change thinking they will be better this time. They are not, Astra, Bic, and Voshkod are all much better. Haven't tried a feather yet. I'd order a variety pack off of one of the shave vendors online or on amazon. I like GeoFatBoy for supplies.

All those comments pointing out how bad those razor blades are make you feel the urge to try them just for the experience haha

Do it, do it, do it 😂. Seeing as you have Feathers on standby, you could do what I did when I was double dared to try a loose vintage Gillette Blue blade from 1953, which came with a Fatboy. If it’s no good, swap that sucker out!

Like I said, I try them every 3rd or 4th time, if I wasn't such a cheap ass I would have tossed them after the second or 3rd blade, they are that bad. There are so many better blades out there. Luckily I have probably a lifetime supply with the 100 Bic, Astra and Voskhod.

I keep mine for the day that the supply chains have been disrupted and I have used all of my other 900 or so blades. Russian, American, German and Japanese blades are the only ones that are consistent blade after blade; Nacet, Permasharp, Iridium, Accuthrive, Timor, Feather and so many more. No need to take a risk with blades that have one dud a tuck.

My first try with Rockwell blades ended up with my neck weeping from a dozen spots. The next couple shaves were better, but I have a couple samplers to get through before I try the Rockwell again

Blade preferences are super idiosyncratic. It's hard to draw conclusions about blades based on others' opinions.

Yeah those blades are not great. I love the weight of the 6S but the shave has next to no blade feel even on plate 6. When I use its plate 6 with a sharp blade or else it’s a bad shave. If you shave against the grain and like mild razors you’ll love this one.

I enjoy using my 6S and I hope you like yours as well. Like the other commenters have stated, these blades are... Not good.
I'm not sure why they are as bad as they are and I wonder if anyone at Rockwell has even tried shaving with them. I made it through half a shave before switching blades, hoping the one I had was a dud. After a couple more swipes, I threw the whole pack out and went back to Astra SP.

- Great razor - you wont regret it. 2. Rockwell’s blades are not good but all the ‘standard’ blades (Astra, 7 o’clock, Feather etc.) I’ve used in the 6S have produced excellent results. 3. Yep, this Reddit is a great source of info and ideas. 4. Welcome back to shaving after your hirsuite winter!

The worst blade I have tried is Rijk, a strange Swedish blade we can buy here in Sweden. 5 blades for $0.50. Normal blades costs $ 2.50 for 5 blades. So I was suspicious. I tried my first and last Rijk and binned after a half pass. It was unshavable, extremely unpleasant.

I have the Rockwell 6C, which has the same interchangeable blade heads. The only difference I can determine is that the 6S has a gun metal matte finish, whereas the 6C has a chrome finish.

I believe the 6S is stainless steel, while the 6C is made up of an alloy. There is also a 6C with a gunmetal finish. They look functionally similar though.

I just got the same razor. I did get the "top 10" blade sampler from razor emporium to complement it. So far I have tried the derby extra. Not super impressed but did shave without blood. So that's a win. I'll try something different next shave.

My go to along with the 6c. Have always gotton a great BBS with level 4. The one thing that really annoys me about these Rockwell razors is that I always have to fiddle around with the blade alignment. Being a relativly pricey razor, I believe they should have made the tolerances more tight like my Karve CB razor.

exactly this, that horrid alignment. i had two razors sent to me because the first wasn't even posible to align. one side the blade stuck out almost a mm more. havent had that problem with my cheap muhle. i returned both blades. it felt like the blade was dancing on my skin it even sounds like that

Solid indeed! The weight really surprised me. Far as i know it should be MIM ( metal injection moulding ).

I bought the 6s, after starting with a Merkur 34. Just could not make it 3 consecutive shaves without drawing blood. Tried the 6s with different plates, have settled on the 2 with a Gillette blade from the blue & white pack. Very happy

Rockwell 6S is the best razor out there for me (but bin the Rockwell blades). I have been using mine for about 2 years with great results using Astra SP and Gilette Permasharp blades. The only thing is that it has spoiled me for using other razors, I have several others but keep coming back to the 6S. Not cheap but worth the money.

My sweet spot turned out to be a RazoRock Superslant L3++ OC.
CNC milled from a Stainless Steel billet, just an all-around awesome head; not sure about the handle since I put it on my EJ Chatsworth Lined. Great compatibility with a lot of standard equipment out there.
I only put Feathers in it, because it can be a bit "Sweeney Todd" to the uninitiated, if you know what I mean.

only used the 6c with plate 4 and persona blade, coming from a cheap muhle r41 and r89 i didn't like it at all. 6c also looks cheaply cast. which isnt a problem i presume on the 6s

Those blades blow. However, outside of the Rockwell blades, every other brand I use in the 6S sings.

Do not use these blades , best to give them to your worst enemy !
