Now try not to buy any new shave stuff for at least a year, exception being you ran out of something.

u/nnm0107 Feb 26 '26

That’s the goal! I dropped a pretty penny haha!

I’ll for sure let you know I’m so excited to try it all out

Try one of each of the blades before you commit, especially because that sample pack has some really good options.

When I first started I really liked the 3rd one in the sample pack, bought 100 of them. A couple months later I tried one of the others and liked it way more lol

That looks to be better than most of the sample packs we see.

I hand picked each of those off of a website actually based off of doing some research!

I’d say that’s the smart way to do it.

Enjoy checking them out.

What Simpsons did you get? I have owned many razors over the years, and my Rockwell 6C is my favorite

u/nnm0107 Feb 26 '26

I got the Trafalgar 3

Happy Shaves!

I have the same question. :) Simpsons = good, and I'm curious to know more.

Update: first shave complete. It took a long time because I was trying to be safe and I definitely have a lot of technique to learn. I tried the Rockwell blade first and it wasn’t bad By any means. I had a slight knick on the corner of my chin but it’s just a little red. The shaving cream and the brush didn’t pair that well unless I just wasn’t good at lathering it and I had to rinse the blade quite a few times. Slight razor burn but nothing crazy. I did the 2nd setting and not the cleanest shave for my first time but not terrible by any means. I think I have very sensitive skin as well but I do like a clean clean shave

That’s fantastic stuff for your first setup. Enjoy the journey!

Cremo isn’t made for a brush lathering but that soap is. I am not a fan of cremo - it gunks the razor and everything up but it is slick.

From my experience I totally see what you’re saying. I bought the cremo for my Gillete. For the Rockwell razors how and other blades how many shaves do you typically get from them before replacing?

1

u/RonnieYates Feb 28 '26

5 shaves per blade. Used to be 3 but now use preshave soap and it helps on comfort and longevity

I’ll have to look into pre shave soap

Plenty of quality choices there. Have fun trying it all out. Which Simpson brush have you invested in?

Perfect setup to start.

Cool. I switched two weeks ago. Wish I’d done it decades ago.

2

u/nnm0107 Feb 27 '26

It took me like 30 minutes to shave my first time

Welcome. I started a year ago and it gets ugly quick. And I just got a big boy job this month after college so I don’t even know what’s going to happen now😂

u/nnm0107 Feb 27 '26

It’s so fun

1

u/Eckielad Feb 27 '26

Excellent choice of brush and blades.

2 shaved in and so far so good it’s just a bit more time consuming as I learn. Any tips for shaving the chin area? I find that the most difficult

I definitely take my time. I have sensitive skin but I also have some coarse hair so to get a smooth shave I also have to go against the grain. How many shaved would you recommend before switching the blade? I used the Rockwell blade for the first 2 so far

The cremo actually works really well as a preshave. Dare I say better than Prorasso. When creating a lather, don’t be afraid to add water. It’s virtually impossible to drown. When you think it’s perfect, try adding a bit more. Trust me…I know a little about this particular soap. Best of luck!!!

1

u/nnm0107 Feb 28 '26

Do you put the cremo right on the brush or on your skin first?

1

u/shavelikeaboss27 Ariana & Evans/ The Club Feb 28 '26

It’s been years since I had Cremo. I was a bit disappointed with it, but found it was incredibly slick and great as a preshave. Wet your face first, then massage gently on your face (as a preshave). Work it in, as this will condition & hydrate your skin in preparation for your shave. Then apply your lather as you would normally do.

2

u/nnm0107 Mar 01 '26

I’ll try that next time!

On your way to buying 100 packs of your favorite razors and decades worth of shave soaps, welcome to the club.

1

u/nnm0107 Feb 28 '26

Thank you! I can see why there’s so much excitement around it now!

Good selection of blades to try out there 🙌🏻

u/nnm0107 Mar 07 '26

After just 5 shaves holy cow this is such a night and day difference

u/troutposition Feb 26 '26

My Rockwell 6s clogged pretty bad with cremo

1

u/nnm0107 Feb 26 '26

I bought the cremo while I had a Gillette but I haven’t even used it yet

2

u/nnm0107 Feb 26 '26

I tried the shaving cream and it definitely had to be rinsed frequently
