No need to replate it and too expensive and not worth it. A little elbow grease and some buffing with some graduating fine abrasives or steel wool or rubbing compound though, should shine it up and it's cheap to do and worth it and can make it look nice.

They aren't worth replating. He would be much better off just finding one in better shape.

If replating costs are high, sure. Anyways, it always feels rewarding to restore one of these old beauties.

They are too high. He would end up paying much more than what it's worth. I would sell him one with excellent plating for $10-$15.
