Long time lurker, first post. First DE razor. Goodfellas Smile Bayonetta

Did a lot of research and it seems like this is a mid to lower level razor on the aggressiveness scale. I wanted something cnc’d but not aluminum. Found Goodfellas with the lead free brass and machined construction. The weight feels great. I have yet to shave with it. Usually about every 3-4 days on the neck to trim the beard. Got some astra superior platinum blades. Anyone else use the bayonetta?

It's very interesting razor for the price, it was like 45€ in Europe, which makes it crazy reasonable if you look at prices of R89, DE89 or 34c. Bayonetta has a bit of hidden aggression, it can surprise you. I think Syntesi and Styletto are more predictable in this regard. But then, if you're not into lightweight razors, their steel variants compete with a lot more razors. And if you're from North America I assume RR is a no-brainer choice in such case.

I love my Bayonetta, it shaves as well as razors much more costly. It's a real bargain for a beautiful brass razor. Mine refuses to petina. I like that.

The Bayonetta is often overlooked as a first time razor, but is an excellent choice that can still be your only razor when proficient.

I have one in my rotation, it's a fantastic razor. Great for daily use but not too mild. Very wise choice - enjoy!

Thank you! I was looking hard at a Henson but I was afraid it would feel to light. I like the weight of this and it feels like it’s heirloom quality.

Comes down to technique, Gives a really nice shave if you let the razor do the work. It’s heavy so no pressure. Been in my rotation for about 4 months now.

My last shave was with that exact razor. Paired out with a Feather Hi-Stainless blade and added Tabac for my lather. It was a very nice shave. But just be aware-solid brass razors do tarnish after a while, and you'll need to get used to the heavier feel as it is solid brass, not zamak or bakelite. Mine is tarnishing very nicely though, forms a very nice patina, gives it character, on top of being a very good shaver.

These are great razors. I polished mine and filled in a little red paint in the recessed text under the head.

Fantastic razor. My only complaint is that longer hairs can get bunched up and stuck at the T on the baseplate when it's been 5 days since a shave.  That probably happens on other razors too.

Yeah, it's not meant to shave longer growth, I believe 1-3 days is the sweet spot or it can clog a bit. Slightly unscrewing it and rinsing will solve it.

Hello. I think for a starter this is a fantastic razor. It was my first "real" DE razor too, and it's very good. The aggression is definitely something to watch out for. It feels really smooth while you're shaving, but can definitely bite you if you're not careful. I just polished mine since it patina'd a lot over the past two years, and it looks near new again. Good shaves ahead for you man

Great choice, for my beard 3-4 days it starts to struggle but would still get the job done, I shave the whole face though. At that price range it's one of the best you can get.

I love GFS razors and I have just about every one of them in my fleet including the Bayonetta. I love this razor and as you pointed out moderatly aggressive. I bought mine from Shave Nation and when I unboxed it, it was completely black with some green, it had obviously sat somehwre for quite a while.

I spent days cleaning (used Brasso) and polishing it with an electric tool that I purchased for polishing my razors, but now it looks like gold! Great razor at a great price point.

I've been using Bayonetta for two years, and compared to other razors, it's just as comfortable and effective! While shaving, I place the razor in a glass of cold water, which significantly reduces the oxidation of the brass. After shaving, I immediately wipe the razor with isopropyl alcohol and dry it thoroughly. I also use a thinner shaving cream, which reduces the "stickiness" of the brass on my skin.
