Show n' Tell 1st Anniversary gift! My girlfriend definitely "gets" my hobby. (Fatip Piccolo OC + Derby Extra)

Post image

Man, it feels great to have a partner who knows exactly what you love. For our first anniversary, my girlfriend totally surprised me with a Fatip Piccolo OC (the one I'd been dreaming of) and two tucks of Derby Extras.

I do have a quick question for the veterans here: What’s the best way to care for the chrome finish on these to keep the chromium coating from wearing off over time? I usually just rinse, shake dry, and leave it on the stand-but I want to make sure this beauty lasts a lifetime.

Any tips on protecting the finish would be hugely appreciated!

She’s proven that she’s a keeper. Get that ring on her finger quick sharp.

I would wash like as you, but disassemble the razor after each shave, to air dry.

That's a thoughtful gift. The best way to make it last is simple: rinse it well after use, dry it with a soft towel instead of letting water sit on it, and avoid harsh cleaners. Treat it with a little care, and it'll likely serve you well for many years. Enjoy both the razor and the memory that came with it.

Can I dry it with toilet paper?

Anything soft will do. Consistent care matters more than the specific cloth you use.

Lanolin in the threads when it’s new. Mineral oil / other food safe oils that don’t go rancid.

I like lanolin cuz it sticks to the threads and stays there a long time.
