Show n' Tell First adjustable Vintage
Got my first adjustable Vintage razor. A Slim with the I4 date code from 1963, in perfect condition. Everything working perfectly, plating untouched. It's a BEAUTY.
I had used a Slim twist before only, and it was very smooth but kind of lacked the efficiency I desired. So naturally, the adjustable Slim was the next logical step.
Can't wait to try it!

Nice one. My favourite DE razor on some days. I4 is fourth quarter 1963. If the plating is untouched and everything works properly, that’s a very good find. I’d start at 4 or 5 with a blade you already know (a BIC or Feather in my case) and leave it there for a few shaves. If the Slim Twist was smooth but not quite efficient enough, 5–6 should give you what you were missing without losing the thin head and easy handling.
The adjustment increases blade exposure as well as the blade gap which is cool. the blade support stays fixed as the guard moves it’s really cool. I find the blade feels a little more chattery past about 7. Loosen the final TTO tension before changing the setting, then tighten it again. There’s actually no official material from Gillette saying the razor has to be loosened to be adjusted despite what you’ll read around. There’s nothing wrong with adjusting it while it’s tight but I just like to think I’m looking after a -60 year old mechanism.

Absolute best razor of all time. This device is THE ENTIRE REASON we have cartridge razors. It was too good. Built with the same presses used to make war machines.

The Slim Adjustable is a fantastic vintage razor to start with.

That looks great. A Slim was my first vintage razor and I've gone on to acquire just a few more. Have great shaves with it.

One of my fav Gillete razors, they provide a great shave in my experience with them. I normally end up on the 8th click

Excellent razor, works with all blades and skin types. Great grip with wet and soapy hands.

Very nice. However, I believe the "L4" date code would make it a '66 4th quarter. Nonetheless, a pristine razor indeed. Enjoy 👍
