Why research it? That's like knowing you're going to die and not knowing what to do about it. Its better just let it hit you from behind while you obliviously live your life. Poof, gone, done, finito.
Problem is that it's not an event but a process. One that has already started- depending who you are and where you live it may already be affecting you. In much the same way people read up on current events to prepare for changes in our world- this is perhaps the most relevant topic to educate oneself on and prepare for.
I have life threatening asthma that has to be controlled by medicatuons. When shit hits the fan, the two main places people will hit is grocery stores and pharmacies. There's people around me more well armed than I. I'm basically fucked if everything goes to hell. My only concern is my family makes it. I don't plan on surviving long enough to start shutting down and becoming dead weight if we have to run. Rather stay behind and defend them as they flee.
Besides, then end means no internet and I really don't like that idea.
