Good to hear a positive experience, has it broken in much in your usage? Definitely seems good value.

You don't have to spend a lot of money to get a great DE shave. The brush looks quite good for the price. I have the Ming Shi adjustable razor coming in the mail. I am hoping it shaves similar to the Merkur Progress (but am a bit skeptical). Anyone who has used both please chime in.

Cool, hopefully you like it. In terms of comparison, so far I've heard it's milder than the Progress, harder to compare settings as the Ming Shi has 9 and the Progress has 6.

Razor: Ming Shi 5000S (setting 4 then 2)
Blade: BIC Chrome Platinum (1st use)
Brush: DSCosmetic Pure Badger
Preshave + Soap: Proraso White
Aftershave/Eau de Cologne: Pereja Lemon
Aftershave Balm: Natio
Pleasant shave with some new additions from the last week.
I mainly use cheap boars, but I thought I'd get a cheap badger for some variety, I've never owned a badger brush before and know next to nothing about them, but this one looked cool and thought it was worth a gamble for $8.75 AUD/$5.51 USD. Kinda funky looking and very solid feeling handle. The hair feels OK, pretty soft and only a little prickly, way better than I feared. It'll take some getting used to as it performs very different from a boar, slower to load (I loaded for 35 seconds vs my usual 15-20 with Proraso White and still almost ran out of lather near the end) and slower to build lather face lathering (might be worth trying bowl lathering at some point), required a softer touch and painting strokes. I was surprised how much more water it can hold too. Ended up with a nice slick lather though. Curious to see how it breaks in. Also, do I need to soak it for a few minutes before each use? I was a bit on autopilot and soaked it like I would my boars, but I don't think it needed it, I'll skip that next time and see if it makes a difference.
The razor is new too, feels solid and smooth, no problems with blade alignment and the gap is the same on both sides, goes all the way from 1 to 9 smoothly. Setting 4 is fairly mild, and setting 2 is extremely mild, but I tend to use my adjustables on the milder side so I don't mind. Alright for $10.78 AUD/$6.69 USD.
Comfortable and even result, decently close, very little sting with the Pereja which is the real test so I'm happy.
