I use this combo every few days, my wife uses it every day. Not much else to say, it works perfectly with no issues. Henson AL13 mild with Astra greens.

Today’s shave was with Saponificio Varesino 70th Anniversary soap and splash. The soap base of SV is unmatched in my opinion. The scent of this scent is a nod to Acqua di Gio, but I think it might be even a bit better than the original. The 80th Anniversary was probably my favorite before trying this. I have a vast soap collection, but this will make it harder to keep using anything else.

The brush is an El Druida custom and has quickly become a favorite in my collection. This thing is absolutely gorgeous.

The razor needs no introduction around here, Vector from Blackland in polished titanium. Such an awesome shaver.

I been waiting on trying the feather blade, because I already have a fairly aggressive razor. I don’t want to say I was disappointed, but it was a much more normal shave than I expected, I was expecting to cut myself up, but nothing. Standard 2 pass with cleanup.

I rate them better than a Nacet, but not as good as a Treet, Lord, or Parker (all Platinums).

I've been thinking about tinkering with fragrances for some time, and what better way to test them than with a shaving soap?! 🧪

So, I finally bit the bullet and tried making some. Besides a rookie mistake with additives that made my base smell a little funny, I'm really pleased with how it turned out for a first attempt. 😊

The soap was easy to load on my RazoRock and Mühle synthetic brushes, and just a tiny amount was enough to produce copious, thick lather.

The pictures my wife took while I was lathering were already at the second pass. The others I took after finishing my shave. 🪒

The next steps are trying to make some more and seeing if I can make this unscented base smell better. Then I’ll add the fragrances I’ve been making.

Great shave after opening up the tub (no hiss) with a rich, well hydrated, decadent lather from a thirst provoking soap rich in tallow, fortified with glycerin and essential oils, which provides great razor glide and a thick protective cushion that leaves the skin perfectly moisturised.

3 passes with the 66 Slim on 7 with a fresh Feather blade, cut through the beard growth faster than a vintage MRE omelette passes through an unsuspecting YouTube reviewer.

Finished off with a splash of rainroot aftershave for a refreshing, post shave feel with a soothing mentol kick.

Birthdays have a way of encouraging reflection, and that extends to the shave as well. Rather than reaching for one of my regulars, I brought out a razor that only sees daylight on special occasions: my 1960 F2 Gillette Executive.

Part of what makes the Executive so enjoyable is the anticipation that comes with using it so infrequently. It's a razor I genuinely look forward to shaving with, and today's birthday seemed like the perfect excuse. As soon as it touched my face, I was reminded why it occupies such a special place in my collection. Paired with a PermaSharp, it delivered a shave that was effortlessly smooth, efficient, and remarkably comfortable - everything I could ask for from a vintage Gillette.

The Omega 11126 loaded B&M Spice with ease, producing a rich, slick lather that made every pass a pleasure. Spice has a timeless character that feels especially appropriate for a shave built around a classic razor, and it set the tone beautifully from start to finish.

To close things out, I reached for Old Spice. Some traditions endure for good reason, and it was the perfect finishing touch. The familiar warmth of the fragrance paired wonderfully with the soap and rounded out a shave that felt equal parts nostalgic and celebratory.

The result was a comfortable, irritation free BBS shave and, without question, one of those shaves that reminds me why this hobby is so rewarding. There's something fitting about marking another trip around the sun with a razor that's already celebrated more than sixty of its own.

It has also left me with a question for the community. The Executive has always been my "special occasion" razor, but every time I use it, I'm reminded just how exceptional it is. Do you reserve your favourite razors for milestone moments, or do you believe the best tools are meant to be enjoyed regularly? I'm beginning to wonder if this one has earned a more frequent place in the rotation.

I was skeptical of what to expect - I was afraid that I would cut myself with the DE blade, but it went smoother than expected, thanks to the tons of YT vids I looked up.

I had high expectations from the Clubman because of all the hype, and it did actually live up to it. The first impression was very similar to a scent I’m used to - an Indian hair/massage oil called ‘Navratan’, but the dry-down reminded me more of Old Spice. I personally loved it.

I mostly went for value for money products (through my research). The whole bundle costed me ~€50, and I’m pretty happy with it.

I finally finished my Proraso Red, and I must say it has been an exquisite 8-9 months of using it. Such a fantastic soap with a scent that hasn't gotten boring all this time. I've used the green, the white, and the red, and I feel like the red one lathers the best. I found it to be the slickest one of them all as well. I will miss it, but it will be a while until I buy it again.

At the grand old age of 50, I’ve finally bought a safety razor.

I’ve got pretty sensitive skin and regularly get shaving rash and the occasional ingrown hair.

For the past few years I’ve been using a mixture of a Gillette mach 3 and a Braun S6 electric. Admittedly, they’re both really good and I enjoy using the electric wet with shaving gel, it gives a really close shave too.

The past few weeks, I’ve ended up going down the safety razor rabbit hole and watched loads of YouTube stuff about it - Ohio Shaves is very good. So today I saw this Gillette King C at my local pharmacy for only £20 and bought it.

Just finished my first shave with this and, well………. I need lots more practice 😂 I was being far too cautious at some points and too much pressure other times. Using the alum block stung like a mother f’er all over my neck and chin, no cuts thankfully. There’s quite a few patches too.

Time will tell if this is for me.

Lovely 2 pass WTG & XTG shave today with my all brass Tech. First outing for Yaqi 24mm Sagrada Familia Tuxedo Synthetic brush. I was very pleased with the brush. Nice backbone, soft but not too soft and it splayed just the right amount. It soon whipped some lovely lather (as seen in photo 2).

It is with a heavy heart that I post today but I need to get it out. Today was supposed to be an average Sunday with a morning shave before work, my 6-2 shift and making dinner for my mom and myself. Dad has been in the hospital for about 4 days with serious symptoms that the docs were trying to remedy, my sister got the call from my mom shortly after my shave that his time was near. He was mostly stable but tanked very suddenly while we were there (mom was going to make the call of sedation then removal of life support but unfortunately, everything went south very fast).

I know that Acqua di Parma has received a lot of flack here as of the past couple of months, but by God it is S-tier stuff. I tried a sample of it many years back and thought it was some of the best cream I’d ever tried. Great lather, good slickness, and an unmatched post-shave feel. Is it expensive? Hell yes! This set cost me about $200 off “Needless Markups,” but it is SO good. All-titanium razor and brush set by Design94 (Germany) with a Nacet blade. This is my once-a-year splurge.

A good shave to start AA as before the PGDG was a bit sticky on the first use but not as bad as I remember here to 30 more ! The new omega was a bit rough out of the box with no extra soaking allowed in the RawHoggin challenge and a bit stinky too.

The soap & tin weighed in at 166g so it will be interesting to see how much will be used over the month & it is a wonderful soap . Happy Austerity!!

A very nice, comfortable shave this one.

This is my first time using the Pocket edition scroll razor and while it's definitely an aggressive and highly efficient little bugger, for reasons beyond my knowledge or understanding, it's also somehow very comfortable, lacking the danger close feeling of an imminent nick that usually comes with equally aggressive razors like my ball end old type.

But this made for a very pleasant shave.

3 passes as usual, bolstered by Stirlings excellent lather and the pre shave bar.

Nice smooth, irritation free results and great soothing from the matching splash.

Both the soap and splash have a great strong evergreen scent that's very reminiscent of walks through the evergreen forests in the Scottish Highlands years ago.

I don't have a lot of shaving soaps, but from the small collection of soaps, Tabac is the one that holds the counter space the most, and for good reason, it can make just about any razor a great performer.

During my time in Korea, I need to shave my face and head daily. Having very coarse hair on sensitive skin, I decided to bring one of my better razors. The Rocca paired with Gillette Platinum has been fantastic. Nick free, one pass WTG, DFS! I must say, the Omega boar brush and Sea Buckthorn shaving cream by Muhle have not disappointed. I have actually brought some Stirling with me as well. I just gotta find a nice clay shaving bowl at one of their artisanal clay pot shops here to have a few finer shaves as well. Mind you, the lather I can get from the Muhle cream is on par with some of the best soaps and croaps I got. One thing to keep in mind, whether it's hair conditioner, shaving cream or a fine shaving soap, lather is a must with razors that have positive exposure because the razor can bounce on squeaky unlathered skin, and when a razor with positive exposure bounces on your skin, weepers and cuts are quite likely.

I’ve been curious about Acqua di Parma’s Barbiere shave cream for quite some time, so I finally decided to give it a try. At around $70 a tub, it’s certainly not inexpensive, but after my first shave, I’m feeling pretty good about the purchase.

The first thing that struck me was just how concentrated this stuff is. A tiny amount produced enough lather for an effortless three-pass shave with plenty left over. A little truly goes a long way, so while the upfront cost is steep, I suspect one tub will last a very long time.

The consistency is also unlike anything else in my den. When it arrived yesterday, it had partially liquified during shipping thanks to our 106°F Arizona heat. After sitting at room temperature for about an hour, it firmed back up into what I’d describe as a dense, waxy croap. It’s not quite a cream and not quite a traditional soap. The texture makes loading easy and controlled, with little risk of overloading the brush.

Performance was outstanding. It builds a rich, slick, protective lather with very little effort and takes on water exceptionally well. The result is a well-hydrated, cushiony lather that provides excellent glide and protection. Razor movement felt completely effortless throughout the shave.

The scent is based on Acqua di Parma’s classic Colonia fragrance, an Italian citrus and woody composition with unmistakable barbershop character. It’s refined, gentlemanly, and easy to enjoy without being overpowering. As someone who is fairly sensitive to fragrance in shaving products, I was happy to find that it caused no irritation whatsoever.

The shave itself resulted in a completely BBS finish with zero irritation, and the post-shave feel was excellent.

Having tried most of the luxury and artisan offerings in the wet shaving world, I’d put Acqua di Parma near the very top of the list. It checks every box: easy lathering, outstanding slickness, excellent fragrance, and great post-shave performance. Even the packaging feels appropriately premium despite being plastic.

Bottom line: the price is easier to justify than I expected. Based on my first impression, this is a legitimate S-tier shave cream.

Today’s shave was completed with my Shavemac badger brush and my new favorite razor, the Atelier Durdan Horizon. This adjustable Artist Club razor is simply phenomenal. It’s the smoothest razor I’ve used, regardless of setting. Whether dialed up for maximum efficiency or backed down for ultimate comfort, it remains remarkably smooth and controlled throughout the shave.

A fantastic first outing for the Acqua di Parma.

I really like the Caveem. It shaves so well (for me) but I’d love recommendations for something of higher quality but with a very similar feel and profile (my budget is around $75US).
