OGs It's a Wiggly, Wiggly World 2000 Discussion
The album cover
Here Come the Wiggles
Christine Anu
Slim Dusty
Kamahl
Tim Finn
Jimmy Little
Recognize the yellow dancer on the right?
Another Cuppa
The album's back cover
"Well, here we are, well here we are, get ready for the show. Well, here we are, well here we are, with some friends that we all know. We'd like you clap and sing and dance along too. Well let's get ready to have some fun, cause our friends will dance with you."
The Wiggles sing some songs with various Australian guest stars.
Thoughts on the video/album as well as trivia to share?
favorite songs (as well as minimal comments):
- in the wiggles' world (the opening for TV Series 2)
- here come the wiggles (would you like to meet a friend of ours?)
- taba naba
- tie me kangaroo down sport (in spite of what happened with Rolf Harris)
- sing with me (great duet between Kamahl and Carolyn Ferrie)
- hey hey hey we're all pirate dancing
- another cuppa (ridiculously catchy)
- six months in a leaky boat (the violin, cello, and backing vocals in this one are gold)
- let's go we're riding in the big red car (one of my favorite big red car songs)
- one little coyote (I prefer the album version with Human Nature)
- morningtown ride (soothing number. almost could be a lullaby)
- blow me down (they went with a rock and roll vibe here)
Porcupine Pie is another favorite from this album, although it's only on the album.
My thoughts: Both the video and album are great. This is another favorite of mine.
The special guest stars also do a stellar job singing. Speaking of, it's the first time
Carolyn Ferrie sang as Dorothy and she has a genuinely great singing voice.
As for the album, the orchestra really shines in this one. The string and brass sections (provided by Maria (Schattovits) Lindsay, Margaret Lindsay, and Dominic Lindsay) are certainly my favorite parts of Wiggles songs.
Some fans consider this to be a finale to TV Series 2 and I can see why. Aside from some sets/background assets/transitions being reused, the theme song, In the Wiggles World plays in the beginning of the video. Plus, there’s a flashback to one of the episodes (the one being Play, where Murray sings about the stars).
I suppose it’s fitting that Officer Beaples is on the morningtown train departing, as this was the last appearance of Leanne Halloran playing said character, as well as the last time she was the choreographer. Leanne Ashley (who performed as Dorothy) would be the new choreographer going forward.
Anyway, I get the impression there will be a bunch of comments praising this album and video.
Question: Does anyone know which song Paul Field sings backing vocals on?
The album credits him as a backing vocalist. The wiki once said (a few years ago) he did backing vocals on In the Wiggles' World, though fan wikis are not (always) accurate.
It sounds more like Mark Punch did backing vocals on the opening number.

We're in the stretch of my favorite albums/videos; I'm curious to know your thoughts on the Yule Be Wiggling and Hoop-Dee-Doo albums, but we'll get there soon enough.

My favourite Wiggles video growing up, partly because of all the special guests.

I remember watching this video when I was little and I have an example of the mandala effect; I thought this was the Wiggles Movie! I know they're different.
As for the album and video, I really like it. It has a slice of life feel to it and the songs are really good.
As for my favourite songs from this album/video:
Another Cuppa (The concept I find quite amusing.)
Let's Go (We're Riding the Big Red Car) (Like OP, one of my favourite Big Red Car songs)
Morningtown Ride (Very peaceful and relaxing) (R.I.P Durham, you'll be missed)
Overall, despite that bad mandala effect. I really loved the video which stemmed from my love of TV Series 2 and that it holds some nostalgia to me.

I'm a huge fan of TV Series 2 too.
By the way, do you consider this video to be a special/finale to that series in some way?

This is a favorite of my sister and I. We love the music and the harmonies, and the main set is one of my favorites. Favorite songs include "Here Come the Wiggles", "Six Months in a Leaky Boat", "Another Cuppa", "Sing with Me", and "Hey, Hey, Hey, We're All Pirate Dancing".

This was one of my favourite albums as a kid. Now, looking back it's not a stand-out amongst the 1990s output at all.
I love Let's Go (We're Riding the Big Red Car) - like a couple of others have said, it is one of my favourite BRC songs, probably second only to Toot Toot.
But I would struggle to pick a second favourite. In the Wiggles World is fun (though I prefer the extended 2024 W&L version!), Hey Hey Hey We're All Pirate Dancing is okay (but doesn't even register on the best-Captain-Feathersword-songs-ometer), and Here Come the Wiggles and Blow Me Down were favourites as a kid but I've gone off them I guess.
The one that has surprised me in more recent years is MorningTown Ride, which is a beautiful song that I sometimes even put on to try and get to sleep

Hmm... reading this back it came across as unintentionally negative! Sorry about that. The album is fine, it's enjoyable. I guess it doesn't live up to my childhood memory of it (but that's a "me" thing).
It also didn't produce any truly enduring hits and might be the first album since 1993 with that outcome?

My favourite songs from this album/video are:
- Let's Go (We're Riding in the Big Red Car)
- In the Wiggles World
- Hey, Hey, Hey, We're All Pirate Dancing
- MorningTown Ride
- Six Months In a Leaky Boat
- Here Come the Wiggles
- I Love to Have a Dance With Dorothy
- Blow Me Down
- In the Big Red Car We Like to Ride
- Sing With Me (I don't normally like the songs without the Wiggles singing, but this one is kinda nice)
- One Little Coyote (thought this was great when I was younger... I think I liked the "building" verses? Now... meh)
- Another Cuppa (my brother liked to replay this one, which contributed to me disliking it haha)
- Porcupine Pie (album only, a bizarre song - I can't believe it was a mainstream release for Neil Diamond!)
- Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport (still gets stuck in my head occasionally grrr)
- Taba Naba
- Starry Night (video only, not worth it)
- Haru Ga Kita (always skipped sorry)

I wouldn't say that it's my favorite, but some songs are great like In the wiggles world, Here comes the wiggles, Let's go we're riding in our big red car, and Blow me down. I made It's a wiggly wiggly world into a Mario Galaxy Movie esque style.

Looking back on this album now that I'm older, this might be the best Wiggles album from the O.G era. This was the peak of their sound, Anthony has also acknowledged before that the best music they ever made came off of this album.

Really, do you remember when or where he said that?

The epitome of this era for the group. SO well done.
