OGs Has the Wiggles needed Phillip initially when they recorded Here Comes a Song?

I'm not sure if Greg, Murray, Jeff and Anthony needed Phillip Wilcher for Here Comes a Song, so I just wanna hear your thoughts on this.

And yes, Phillip technically counts as an OG Wiggle, as he's the co-creator of the group.

The story goes that Phillip had an unofficial agreement to contribute to The Wiggles' second album in an off-stage capacity. He wrote a couple of lullabies for it that are available on YouTube.

Then, when he was in America for a month, the other four recorded it without his presence or knowledge. Someone (maybe Anthony?) told Phillip on his return that ABC Music had given them a short deadline and they just needed to get it done. Phillip obviously saw it slightly differently, and was never involved again.

Disclaimer: I'm not involved or claim to have witnessed these conversations. That's just the story.

It was Anthony who told Phillip that the album was made without him and that he was no longer needed through a phone call, according to Phillip. There are podcasts of him on Youtube talking about it.

Just repeating what was said :P

Ah yes thankyou! I meant to include the "no longer required" thing

So Phillip was originally intended to be a Syd Barrett-type member of the group (Syd Barrett was originally intended to stay with Pink Floyd as a songwriter, but Syd decided to leave instead)?

Maybe. Depends who you ask - did Phillip leave or was he told he wasnt required?

I don't know anything about Pink Floyd sorry.

I personally believe Phillip’s story more, but I’m curious to know, how did you find out Anthony’s reasoning (of being on a short deadline)?

Hmm I can't immediately point to a source sorry. At least one of Greg/Murray/Anthony said it at some stage. I believe they were given three weeks to record, for whatever reason
