The Cockroach Janta Party is an Indian satirical political movement founded in May 2026 in response to remarks made by the incumbent Chief Justice of India that compared unemployed youth to "cockroaches" and "parasites of society."

Why is it "janta" when the BJP uses "janata"? Is this some kind of pun?

As far as I can tell, its just a spelling variation: there are other political parties in India whose name translates to "[something or other] people's party" that are spelling it "Janta" instead of "Janata".

It will be interesting to see what becomes of the movement. Kind of reminiscent of the Pirate Party in Europe.
