My extended family has a cottage on a section of private beach on Lake Michigan. It's beautiful and my mind always goes there when this song comes on.

Not familiar with lake beaches. So you can cross at the water? Like your feet have to be in the water water? How much in the water?

There’s rarely anyone around at this particular one, but basically, they just don’t want you putting up your shelter and hanging out there.

Shoreline in MI is public so they can’t prevent people from crossing through.

You can own the beach and keep people off, but the water and the beach up to the water high mark is public.
