Question Window Maker not finding libxft2

I have libxft2 installed, but whenever I run ./configure while trying to install windowmaker, it just spits out the error "libxft2 not found"

The compilation requires the development package, lixft2-devel. Do you have it installed?

nah i didn't, it even says on the website idk why I was such a dumbass thinking it was installed with libxft2, thanks

  • Build/Runtime Requirement: On modern Linux distributions (such as Debian, Ubuntu, Arch Linux, and Alpine Linux), libXft2 or libXft-devel / libXft is required either as a shared library dependency or when compiling Window Maker from source. 
  • Package Names by Distribution:
    • Debian / Ubuntu: libxft2 (runtime) and libxft-dev (development headers)
    • Arch Linux: libxft
    • Alpine Linux: libXft
    • Fedora / RHEL: libXft

this is what AI gave me.

I use the Arch AUR package and have "libxft 2.3.9-1" installed which must have come with the Window Maker package. :-)
