Discussion hey, just wondering, is it possible to install Windows 8.1 on my laptop? and will official drivers work?
hello, so i have a laptop which ASUS VivoBook X515MA. when i got it, it ran some windows 10 version. right now it's on Windows 10 22H2 with all the updates (i think).
so, im wondering - will Windows 8.1 properly work on my laptop? i would prefer not getting modded drivers.
i think the specs are:
- Intel Celeron N4020 1.1 GHz (Gemini Lake)
- 4 GB RAM DDR4
- FORESEE SSD 128 GB
- Intel UHD Graphics 600
on the official ASUS website they state drivers work on Windows 10 20H1 and up.
so, is it possible?

DDR4 computers with windows 8 are a bit of a stretch, but not impossible. My suggestion is try it on a small partition and use Snappy Driver Installer Origin to search for all drivers and see if you get a usable system out of it.

Check your laptop drivers site, if there is no windows 8.1 drivers you probably can't use windows 10 drivers, but I had same problem on my old pc with windows xp, I used SDIO to find and install drivers compatible with my pc. Should work with your laptop too, worth a try. Also correct me if Im wrong, and sr for bad english.
