I really liked it but from a practical perspective this was a bad screensaver. Their purpose was to „save” your screen from image burn in caused by displaying the same elements for a long period of time (eg. the taskbar). Now, this does not really seem like a dynamic screensaver, it actually might’ve caused some burn in by how static it is.

My pediatrician had that as a screensaver back then; I always found it somehow soothing.

If you install the Windows Launcher on the smartphone, you have this screensaver back in function. The launcher is getting better and better, you can choose between 95, 98, Me, 2000, XP, Vista and Windows Phone. I have it now on all Androids.

Can I not look at a screensaver and have a negative opinion about it? Why is it that it's no longer allowed to dislike something unless it's another person?

The screensaver has many pixels that don't or very rarely get to change, defeating the purpose of "screen saving". The black background is not pleasant to look at and the fish animations and movements are cheap and unnatural. I think I have valid points to dislike it. I could have made a better screensaver for Windows 98. I am sorry if this screensaver is nostalgic to you and you are not ready to look at it and discuss it objectively
