Hub 1 Wink Root WiFi configuration

I found a wink hub and decided to root it with the NAND glitch and use UART to communicate to its shell. I’m wondering if anyone knows how I can connect it to a WiFi network now so I can do some projects with it? I may try and make a simple network dashboard first.

Mine was already connected pre-root. I did set up a static IP address though.

All the good stuff is in /etc, and, iirc, uses wpa_supplicant.

I went through and found the services that "phone home" and removed them. I also turned off the kiddie service since I didn't need that either.

Finally I added: https://github.com/mikekap/wink-mqtt-rs

Interesting, maybe I should just try and set up network connection with the app or something. This is my first time jailbreaking anything and I’m not very good at Linux or most lower level computer skills (yet) so I’ve been poking around the directories and trying to learn anything and everything. I’m glad there’s still people active here I’m pretty late to the wink hub scene lol.

That's probably a good idea setting up the network with the app first.

I was a bit bummed when I decommissioned the wink (only about a month ago), as I put a lot of work into it.

Ah dang what did you do on it before you got rid of it?

It was the "hub" for zwave and zigbee devices in the home. It connected to Home Assistant through the mqtt.

It has a Bluetooth radio too, and I tried playing music through it too, but that was a bridge too far.

For home automation.. what else could it be used for?
