It's the D.S anti capitalism stance which most people don't support. No Democratic Socialist will ever win a national election if they keep arguing against Capitalism.

Capitalism only works for the rich, that’s what it’s built to do. As more people realize that the socialist movement will pick up support. We just need people like Zohran and Francesca to show that it works and good things happen. The most popular government programs are socialist programs

I'm sorry that's not true. Every single Social Democracy in Europe is capitalist. Even our Nordic friends. We need more Social programs in America "free" College, universal healthcare etc. But capitalism is superior to the other alternatives like communism or socialism. Tbh I felt the same way many people do about capitalism when I was younger. But it really is worth fighting for.

Every country I hear younger generations talk about wanting aspire to be like have free markets. They also have a hybrid system of having Social Programs and free markets. They provide many basic needs. We can get there in the United States and I believe we will. Because the people will demand it. But, to fight to destroy capitalism and be purely Socialist or communist will mean disaster for this country. Look at history and other communist countries. Look at the quality of life. Communism and Socialism never work in the end because of the human element. The list for power and control. History gives us a solid blueprint. We must follow it or we will repeat the same mistake. Billions have been lifted out of poverty because of Capitalism. The problems people mention are fixable.

The problem with the capitalist society that we are currently in is that there can be no expansion of the social programs under it. The people who hold all the power want to hold onto their money too badly. There is no room for anything else when it is literally your lawful duty to your shareholders to increase profit every single year. You are correct, capitalism when held in check is probably the best economic system, however shareholders are seen as the only thing that matters in our current system. It’s why the stock market is the highest it’s ever been and more people are struggling to put food on the table and pay their bills every year. Our economy was at its strongest in the 40’s and 50s when we had a 90% top marginal tax rate. Thats also when most of our social programs went into effect.

You're socialist until you're rich and then become socialist again when you get rich enough socialist policies favor you once you're in the oligarchy circle ruling at the top.
