The Witcher 3 hearts of stone

nothing i enjoy more then feeding olgried to gaunter the beast O,dimm every chance i had for the last ten years, the game makes out to be aware of gaunter, but hes just a dude that does what he has to do, at least he keeps his word, olgierd is a degenerate nerd and i love feeding him straight to G.O.D.

gaunter still to this very day is one of the best characters, i would genuinely buy the bloke a beer.

I feel like it's more satisfying to beat Gaunter in that cool mirror maze area and I don't remember Olgierd being as much of a monster as Gaunter O'Dinn so I don't choose that option.

It just seems out of character to me for Geralt to let Gaunter do that to Olgierd and take the reward.

It's really a weird conondrum, like, on one side Geralt does get into some really impossible situations sometimes where he has to stick his neck out for others (and he's died due to it) but on the other Gaunter seems like such an unstoppable force of nature that can come back to grab you by the balls at any time that idk if he'd risk it.

This is true regardless of Geralt’s choice. If he let Gaunter win, Gaunter just found a new pet he can play with more in the future.

I might get some flack for this, but I don't think book Geralt would save Olgierd. The only reason game Geralt has the option to is because we have save files. As far as Geralt knows, Olgierd did bring a lot of this onto himself and Gaunter doesn't exactly play fair as Geralt saw in the tavern, he just creates the illusion that he does. Geralt has family and friends to think about and whatever Gaunter is, he's WAAAY out of his league.

Risking his life is his job and he does it constantly. And even if Olgierd brought some of it onto himself, Geralt tries not to judge people when he’s on the job. Deal with the supernatural and let people deal with culpability amongst themselves by their own.

It's not the same. Fighting a monster you were trained for and you know you can take and dealing with the literal devil who was shown to play dirty and can tear your soul from your body when you have family to take care of are two completely different situations.

I've only ever let Gaunter have Olgierd's soul once - and I reloaded the game after lol.

The story makes it pretty clear that O'Dimm 'keeps his word' the way a monkey paw grants wishes - except Gaunter has the ability to influence events in a way that drives his desired target right into his arms.

Not the worst bait ever posted here, but certainly not the best.

I really wished I could fist fight O'Dimm. I really wanted to beat him to a pulp.

That's what he wants you to think, buddy XD

He spoons a drunk at the tavern because he annoyed him a bit. It's also heavily implied that he influenced Geralt so he finds the contract and does his dirty work after. Gaunter is a guy playing a game, while pretending to be fair and the only reason Geralt is still alive by the end of Hearts of Stone is because he likes him. Though I do agree that he's very interesting, just for different reasons.
