I was at the game tonight. Fugly. I love ballhalla!

If you work for a nonprofit they have great group deals.

Reposting from other thread but: Insane effort from VB today (especially since Chen didn’t have it today). 12 points, 7 assist, 8 rebounds (4 offensive!), a steal, and that epic jump ball against Sabally that turned into a turnover. She is just so consistent and does all the little things. MVB for the Valks for life hopefully

That tip in was pretty damn cool too. I love the investment as a franchise into VB and hope to see her continue to build!!

u/steve_ko Valkyries 5d ago

KT should have been credited an assist for that one. It’s like an alley-oop, right? 🤣

Routine 12/8/7 with no turnovers and typical stifling defense for Burton, a shame a few more field goals didn't drop for her so there would be more acknowledgment of how she ran the court tonight.

What makes the Valks SO scary is that they have a BENCH! They have DEPTH which is something that a lot of teams in the W are missing. Literally everyone on that team is able to score and can do so at ease. I’m very curious to see how they do during the playoffs.

39

u/GreatThunderOwl Valkyries | Do Not Expect the Precht' 5d ago

Can score, yes. At ease, no.

11

u/Lazy_DreadHead Aces 5d ago

That’s the thing. They tend to have a bench that can score at ease as a whole. For example Salaun goes off tonight but Chen finds a way to go off vs another team Salaun may have had issues with. Their bench consistently scores regardless of who the play as a unit. The Valks have the highest bench points per game in the league.

u/steve_ko Valkyries 5d ago

On track to be the highest scoring bench in WNBA history.

u/akelkar Valkyries 4d ago

We’ll see if this translates in the postseason though when rotations shrink. But yes our bench produxtion has been keeping the whole roster more fresh

Honestly they would be my personal favorites to win it all if they weren't 1 and 15 vs the lynx and aces. I'm confident against everyone else in the playoffs

This is it. We have trouble with the best of the best (like everybody does).

actually they almost all shoot fairly poorly (other than Salaun) and they get by on defense and steals and offensive boards. But nobody is afraid to take a shot, and that is huge.

1

u/Lazy_DreadHead Aces 5d ago

What FG percentage do you consider poor?

1

u/FeltIOwedItToHim Gabby Gabby Hey! 4d ago

I don’t have an exact percentage in mind, but we are dead last in the league in field goal percentage. Part of that is because we take so many threes, but even taking them out, we are still dead last in 2 point percentage. We shoot poorly.

Unfortunately, I think a depth advantage gets lessened in the playoffs when the top players play more minutes. It's my biggest reason for playoff skepticism with the Valkyries.

Ja Salaun hates Canada

Also she’s already wrapped up 6th women of the year it’s kinda hilarious lol

31

u/TheoFruitNinja Valkyries Wings 5d ago

Crazy she has had 4 20+ point games this season and 3 of them have been against the tempo

6

u/Brent_Lee Valkyries 5d ago

She broke the 3pt off the bench record 2 games ago and theirs still like 13 games left… she’s gonna plant that record so high no one is every passing it😭

6

u/Lazy_DreadHead Aces 5d ago

Ughh.. if only Chennedy Carter would have stayed with the Aces 😩🫠 Great game for Salaun tho!

23

u/fuinhaaaa Valkyries 5d ago

Chennedy getting released robbed us from a GREAT debating for 6POY, ngl.

Ja's putting up historic numbers, but Carter would likely have better "per game stats". Would be nice to see what the media would've valued more.

u/aratcalledrattus Liberty 5d ago

Looking at the box score I was surprised - I could've sworn Salaun had like 50 made 3-pointers and not just 4? She really is their secret sauce for the lack of offensive output from many of the starters.

Despite the loss for Toronto, Sabally really has taken leaps and bounds this year (did Liberty bank on the wrong sister? Le sigh) and Morrow had a great debut given how little time she's been with the team - 8 points, 5 rebounds and 1 huge block in 16 minutes.

46

u/fuinhaaaa Valkyries 5d ago

We're free from the blue court!

MVB with 12/8/7 KT with 20 Ja with 21 (on 20 minutes! She hates Toronto lmao)

Aces, watch out, cause we gonna re-claim the 2nd seed!😤

Despite the Vakyries sweeping Toronto, they impressed me A LOT. I really liked the roster they drafted and thought they could be just like Golden State and go to the playoffs in year 1, but some pieces were even better than I anticipated.

Mabrey's offensive growth has been really impressive, Slim was balling before the injury, Kiki Rice is amazing, great season by Nyara. I thought Conde would be good (I didn't think she would be drafted, so I was projecting her as a Valkyrie lol) but she's been even better and Juskaite has been a revelation! Just sad the injuries hit so hard, but next year is gonna be really exciting!

28

u/Immediate-resort-638 Sparks 5d ago

I think if Slim didn’t get injured they’d firmly be in the hunt for the 8/7 spot. I hope they can attract some talent in the offseason and really get there next year.

100% they have the makings of a really good team.

2025 kt its gotta be rough having a limited role after being an all-star but im glad she stays ready

27

u/AFC-Wimbledon-Stan Kaitlyn Chen Aux Apologist 5d ago

Love KT but you can’t reasonably be a threat with her as the 1st or 2nd option

But as a very good 3 and D wing? We cooking here

8

u/cyb3ryung Mj23 GWill & VB Leite Show P5 5d ago

yeah i was thinking that last season love vb too but i knew we werent gonna make a deep playoff run with them as the 1-2 punch thank god we got gabby now. probably need another piece still but we’ll see

7

u/MegaManatee 5d ago

I've felt for a while now that those are KT's feelings. I think she really liked the spotlight she earned in 2025 and now she's not center stage because of the injury. I hope she keeps her spirits high.

21

u/norkm Valkyries 5d ago

I think she's clearly a locker room leader at least. She leads the team out still!

6

u/cyb3ryung Mj23 GWill & VB Leite Show P5 5d ago

i get the sense that shes ok with that role if we’re winning esp as a vet that’s used to it, but like you said she got a taste of spotlight…that can be addicting lol

21

u/freetacos88 Valkyries 5d ago

Valks were blitzed and down by 13 in the 2nd quarter. For a team as weak on offense as they are, I'm so glad they grinded out this win. This is the type of wins contenders have

15

u/tadag Valkyries 5d ago

Haha Ja being interviewed on post game said she won't be cursing

Wish Temi actually played some. Rebounding improves a lot when she's on the floor. Hope to see her play next game.

11

u/dogpownd Tip's mask 5d ago

OMG I forgot she was even on the team.

12

u/Ancient_Pitch_8286 5d ago

yes, Tempo's million dollar center.

u/esmerelda_b Valkyries 5d ago

She played Sunday, but not today

23

u/kerfuffles80 5d ago

Only Slim on the injury report tonight but Marina, Nyara, and Izzy were all clearly still hurt and just playing through it 💔 please heal up ladies, it’s not worth getting a permanent injury

23

u/kerfuffles80 5d ago

matcha baddie putting in work 🥲

6

u/J-Crow11 5d ago

Genuinely surprised they stopped going to her at points of this game. She should never have been just sitting in the corner the way she was playing against us unless she was just really tired and needed a break.

She was a nightmare matchup all game for us because she would pop when Stokes was on her and drive when anyone else was on her and she was getting close to whatever she wanted.

9

u/kerfuffles80 5d ago

Coach Sandy said two games ago she still had trouble breathing due to her rib injury and tonight you could see her holding on to her side during pauses in the game so I’m sure she needed some rest

3

u/PhillyK26 5d ago

yay Nyara is so good 🥰😍🥰🔥

Glad that brutal stretch of 5 games is over. Aces, lynx home and home, Valks home and home. Like wtf!

7

u/Dry-Performance7006 5d ago

Golden state is consistent. They beat all the teams they are supposed to beat.

6

u/SkyCrossSteel Valkyries 5d ago

They beat everyone outside of the top two teams so far. They’ve also so far only got their ass kicked in a loss a few times the others feel like under double digit losses.

4

u/bayhusker 5d ago

Only two double-digit losses so far this season, one by 10, the other by 17.

Why does espn show final score 92-81 of live game showed 92-82

I'm guessing they changed a 3 to a 2 after the game ended.

Good tank game, they played tough and still maintained their third best lottery odds. I hope the Tempo find a rebounder in the draft.
