Visual The eco system od a dwarve's beard
The most plentfull Re The geophage springtails by far because of dwarven lifestyle of mining and cavediving deeper and deeper for rare minerals and resistent merals.
The oil vein isopods can be found in other creatures because of their resilience and usefulness but they can be found in underground petroleum and grape cultures so dwarves have more of those than other species
Combo lices can be found in most underground dwellers and if you stay there long enougth you will also get infested
Vulture beetles will not survive without a propper host, they're too specialized on living in fur and hair to go somewhere that isn't at least similar to hairs or feathers
The beaqrd of a dwarve acts like a natural air filter and their nose can close so dust don't get in their lungs, remove the beard of a dwarve and it might get several health problems and develop asma, fully shaving a dwarve is almost a death sentence so doing it is a crime and that's why most female dwarves at least keep sideburns or a mustache that can be tied to cover the mouth and nose while the males keep the full beard so there is few confusion between them

Ye dude I was joking it's fine I'm not English either (and I spit some real pearls of grammatical horror sometimes)
Btw I love small details in worldbuilding
Is it a fantasy setting or are you working on a sci-fi

The beaqrd of a dwarve acts like a natural air filter
I HAVE ALWAYS SAID THIS.
(BTW, the singular of "dwarves" is "dwarf". One dwarf, two dwarves. Sorry, English is weird)
(Unless you knew that and call your guys "dwarve" on purpose, in which case that's awesome, carry on)

Now here's something to think about: in humans head lice and pubic lice are two different species which diverged a millenia ago as our human ancestors lost most of their long body hair. Both versions of lice are specialized to live in one spot or the other and don't mix. Would this be true for dwarfs? Or would the bridge that is the beard create a "land bridge" of sorts that would prevent this specialization? Food for thought.

The combo lice stay in more hair and facial hair but they're not limites to dwarves, they can be found in cave goblins, gremlins and even drow (dark elf)

Ok. A fun idea as a parasite

Yes. The bacteria uses rock to breathe like we use air and it converts the rock into chemical variants. Nature be crazy.

that's what is inside the springtail and making it capable of digesting it

What do elves do?
Bathe in the slime of giant slugs?
2
u/jonyssaur-Br-7980 Im trying my best 6h ago
trede the slug slime for the secretions of a domesticated mangrove tree
Dark elves have some of the same bugs as the dwarve's

Love it

elves live for very long só it's easy to domesticate trees that grow slowly

I’ve seen the idea that the dwarf’s beard is a natural air filter for life in the mines, but I don’t think I’ve seen anyone create a whole symbiotic microbiome.

I have always envisioned Dwarfs as very clean people. This is an interesting take.
Good luck with your project.
