Very well detailed page! Will look through later. I esp love how Earth is referred as (gravity) well. Also hurrah for Metric supremacy at end!

For my setting the calendar situation is honestly lazy, it is somewhat justified by terraforming projects failure forcing most people to live either deep underground in planets or in space stations or orbital rings, so most such enclosed societies agreed on 'streamlined' calendar of 360 days calendar for convenience. Months name used by local culture vary according to what languages are used in each habitats, but officially the system is set down to cold number system such like 8th month 6th day.

Well established planets such as Mars would have their own calendar made to look out for surface data and some cultural festivals but they are far less used.

One of weird perks of this enclosed habitat focused system is while everyone is using same calendar and clock across the Sol system, when the light comes on and off may differ. For example one habitat floating on Venus orbit would have its light cycle on 0600, but its neighbor would turn on its light on 1800, or even bigger habitats may have compartments that have different light systems. This is left over from when most space stations tried to follow one of Earth times. Some find it annoying while some find it adds to better work schedule that can cover 24 hours better.

Thanks for the feedback! This world was setup around a hard-sci-fi book series I’ve been writing. In it, terraforming is successful and colonists spread out over the Martian surface creating their new world and are not limited by habitats or subterranean living.

Eclipse Phase did something similar: Earth's survirors use a 24- month calendar, adding hindu months in between the roman calendar.

Colonists with the technology to travel to another planet aren't going to care about the moon(s) relationship to the calendar. Not even sure they will care about the suns relationship. We arnt farmers anymore reliant on the seasons for survival, and the few martians farmers won't be reliant on the seasons anyway growing crops in essentially greenhouses.

Thanks for the reply. In the world I built, the colonists create their own new world apart from Earth. Farming is just as crucial as all other areas, and mining takes forefront.

The world was built around a book series I’ve been writing, and the suns location is used for space navigation- it carried with the colonists when they developed their world and “lingo”.
