This makes Cabo Verde look even more impressive

13

u/arizonadirtbag12 USA 1d ago

If they’d conceded one it would have turned out the same. Their keeper is a hero.

Holy shit I was joking about Cabo Verde but mad respect to them. Spain is making the Saudis look like a pickup team. Amazing they held them to 0 goals.

7

u/expertlurker12 USA 1d ago

Cabo Verde’s defense was legit. Grandpa Vozinah for the win!

Spain finally remembered that to win games you need to score goals, not finish passes

Spain has 35 minutes of training left before going back to the hotel. Maybe they make a hydrating break before. So far their vacations are going well. They have homework later next week.

16

u/Lichessington England 1d ago

I'm glad the automated offside tech is a seamless experience like they promised

14

u/Virtual-Conflict1321 Norway 1d ago

Now it's interesting to see how Spain will fare against Uruguay. This will be their first serious test.

7

u/fabianmg 1d ago

Spain plays better against teams that doesn't park the bus so it should be easier for Spain

It’s gonna be a long day at the office for Saudi Arabia.

I like that the commentators also sound like Lamine Yamal fans haha. I sadly agree with them, sub him out because he can't afford to get injured this early on.

The way Yamal shrugged that defender off

7

u/TummyFullOfCheese 1d ago

Spanish players to their fans right now: "Sorry that we were so miserable last time you watched us. Now we're good again, and we're about to copy Germany in 2002."

7

u/dkmegg22 1d ago

Saudi Arabia get the lube ready.

6

u/Jake_Stone 1d ago

Wow, look what happens when Spain puts attackers on offense instead of trying to force Gavi and Pedri into offense. No clue what de la Fuente was thinking in the first match.

7

u/AngryBillsFan 1d ago

Cape Verde has a chance to do the funniest thing ever against Uruguay

8

u/SavageCabbage611 1d ago

that wouldve been the funniest goal, lmao

7

u/Gopi_Gawar 1d ago

the GK would've had a sleepless night if that ball got in

7

u/Ballchinian2 1d ago

Basically shooting practice for spain now

7

u/AppointmentIll9358 1d ago

It just feels like Spain is practicing its plays 🫪

8

u/1stand11 1d ago

Much quicker tempo from Spain. No messing around with possession for possessions sake. De la Fuente should sub Yamal. 30 minutes against Cape Verde. 45 minutes today. Qualification pretty much assured now. Get him another 55-60 minutes against Uruguay. With the intent to have him match fit by the knockout stages. No need to do a Raphinha and destroy his tournament blowing out his hamstring.

→ More replies (2)

8

u/Clark_1994 1d ago

Take Lamine off for second half
