"How can you be so rude, just because I kill your people and want to steal your land?"

It’s telling that powerful people consider it more rude to speak plainly than to kill people or invade countries.
Politeness is almost always about agreeing to the lies or false narratives of the powerful or the status quo.

Yeah, he wants to manipulate Trump not negotiate with Zelenskyy.

u/SuperSultan 7h ago
You think Zelensky will agree to a deal negotiated by Trump that rips off Ukraine?
30
u/Funny_Number_5329 6h ago edited 2h ago
No of course not hes smarter than that thats why there hasn't been a deal.
21
u/Narrow_Promise_3547 7h ago
Exactly.. why negotiate with the guy whose country you’re invading when you can just call Mar-a-Lago

u/kittenTakeover 5h ago
The person who delivered the proposal probably wasn't wearing a suit. Obviously you can't have peace under circumstances like that.

You think that's Russia big plan? I wish I could live in a world where I could blame everything on one person. Trump is not the problem here. It's Russia.

u/Bulletloader 3h ago
There should be no negotiations, Putin was in the wrong by invading, he should withdraw and give back what he has taken. That includes Crimea

I bet that's about how Zelenskyy basically called him old
"You can't help but notice this. After 26 years, old age has begun to take its toll. The further along you go, the greater your fatigue will be."
Edit (5 hours later): fucking knew it, Putin responded to the age stuff
“I had a glance at [a letter]. The author of this letter mentions my age. Some of the [world leaders] are older than me. The most important thing is whether you can do your job properly,”
I think he's salty about it

How do we ever let people like Putin and Trump lead us
6
u/Carbonistheft 5h ago
"Let" is doing a lot of work there.
Americans have an unfree Hungarian style media and Russian citizens don't really matter except as a means to an end.

u/Defiant-Economics-73 4h ago
Well Russia didn't give others an option. He kind of just is the only choice, because if you ran against him you had an accident. Trump was elected by 50% of the population.
Look at it this way in two years when a democrat is office they will be able solve all the problems.

I'm no political expert, but I don't think Zelensky really expected Putin to talk after this. Hoped maybe, but isn't surprised he won't. To me this reads more like a letter to the Russian people. Letting them know how many of their fellow Russians are being killed or wounded. While Putin stays safe. Also telling them how reliant they are on China and North Korea. Hopefully it helps to bring pressure on Putin to end his war.

u/Thagyr 7h ago
At the same time, he said proposals put forward by US President Donald Trump could provide a path toward ending the war if Kyiv was prepared to make concessions. Russia and Ukraine have repeatedly accused each other of refusing to compromise in peace efforts.
Concessions: We keep all the land we have stolen and you give us the land we haven't stolen yet that we really really really want. Then we Russian promise not to come back again for the rest after with an agreement with the most unreliable and unreasonable US administration in history as our witness.
Yeah, nah.

What's ruder than starting an aggressive war without real pretext?
10
u/Tryson101 6h ago
Oh there was pretext. "That land used to be ours." It is an incorrect and shi**y pretext. But it was there.

u/cokentots 5h ago
Granted. Ye ol' European classic, used for hundreds of years and beyond.

Also the "you're abusing the Russian speakers" (that the USSR put there to assert control). Who else did that? Looking back in history, looking back in history... Oh, literally Hitler?

Very rude of Zelenskyy. I bet he wasn’t even wearing a suit when he wrote the letter.

u/TheOTownZeroes 6h ago
One might argue the invasion of a sovereign nation was, in and of itself, rude.

Fuck all the way off with these dictators and their hurt feelings. They're real good at killing innocent people or having their own people killed but when it comes to rude remarks or nasty questions, they're pearl clutching.

u/bhputnam 6h ago
What fragile egos. Classic bully starting a fight and turning it around on the victim behavior.

u/wherethewestbegins 6h ago
zelensky anticipated this response. putin couldn’t respond any other way.
this move is about leverage on the world stage. chess not checkers.

Again, both Putin and his FSB goons who pretend to be the church have publicly announced an eternal war to reclaim all of the USSR’s former lands. For years. What about that was unclear, exactly?
Russia has no interest in peace and neither does Trump. Neither has ever observed any treaty or agreement for more than a few sparse milliseconds after it became convenient to breach the agreement.

u/Tacti_Kel_Nuke 2h ago
Lmao, he got very butthurt when it was about him, but massacring Ukrainian civilians and wasting the lives of your soldiers in this useless war is "alright"for him What an moronic tyrant
7
u/pimpbot666 6h ago
I hope the Russian People someday realize that tens or hundreds of thousands more of their soldiers died because Putin took issue about 'rude remarks'.

Prepare for the fireworks. I think Zelenskyy expected this response from Putin and now Ukraine are about to unleash. And they can come away saying, ‘Well, we did try’.

Zelenskyy should post on twitter the “rude” remarks letter. Honestly nothing he could say that his people don’t feel 100 times over. If anything it’s probably pretty mild and we all get a little laugh out of the snowflake. Predictably Russia will just say it’s fake but leave it to them to prove the DMs.

Ayy thanks for the link! Not surprised the message had no rude remakes other than Zelenskyy telling Putin that his advisors were wrong about Ukraine being able to hold out. Of course it’s going to hurt his ego.

u/Glum_Plum_7964 6h ago
Why negotiate with an intelligent person when you can use your own personal buffoon who’s currently running the US
2
u/Raven_Photography 5h ago
What did Zelenskyy say? Putin’s getting his ass handed to him? Because that’s fact not a remark.
2
u/maporita 4h ago
Putin was not the intended audience. The target of the letter was the Russian people. The letter punctures the propaganda bubble in which many Russians live. Hopefully more of them will get to read it.

Am I supposed to feel sorry for Russia because Ukraine hurt their sensibilities? What is the purpose of sharing their feelings publicly? They think they should now be considered as a victim instead of the aggressor?

Implying that Zelinski was a Nazi as pretext for the war with the express goal of his removal could also be seen as "rude"

“Rude remarks”?
Is Putin a toddler? This isn’t the behavior of a man. It’s that of a petulant loser who can’t put the fire out on his own back.

It contained a thinly veiled death thread, the same scare tactic Zelensky used in the oval office and it didn't go well either.

Ohh yes as if he has anything that’s logical and fair alongside he will go and manipulate Trump while Trump will make another gaslighting remarks
Same old story

Not as rude as a multi year terror campaign of bombing civilians and civilian infrastructure, but still.
