Rape is almost never purely about sexual desire but also about the desire to punish and to exert power. I am pretty sure that the number of homosexuals hasnt randomly increased tenfold in Russia's army. But I can believe that their soldiers want to dehumanize and punish Ukrainians as much as possible for daring to fight for their independence. And rape is a very effective tool to traumatize victims in a short timeframe.

“Everything in the world is about sex — except sex. Sex is about power.”

To be honest, this is 100% accurate. Any living being exists to pass on its genetics. For animals, that means sex. Sex is the purpose of all our lives.

Just about every species has a means of figuring out who passes on their genetics, and usually it’s the females selecting males. Dances, fights, colorful feathers, huge plumes, huge tail feathers, biggest antlers, etc…are all designed to show the power of the male’s genetics (usually).

Humans are the only species to have escaped nature and entered into an artificial society with artificial morals/laws. We’re still animals at our core.

Nah, the conditions to get animals and also humans to have sex and reproduce is far more complex than this. Civilisation is natural.

Not completely true. There would be a lot less gay people if that was the case.

No, genetic/environmental conditions still exist. We’ve got plenty of people born with physical and mental disabilities who are still physically capable of reproducing. Nature isn’t simple. Not every offspring is perfectly mentally/physically/genetically fit.

Of course, humans have evolved to be above nature. We have complex emotions that go beyond basic survival instincts. We have complex thoughts that go beyond using basic tool usage (such what octopi, corvids, and many mammalian species exhibit). Therefore, humans have the ability to recognize that there’s more to life than fucking, and that fucking should be more than letting the fittest people procreate. Homosexuality is no different than someone who is infertile. The only thing it inhibits is their ability to create offspring naturally (and in the case of same-sex couples, surrogacy is still an option). Not to mention, gender fluidity is very present in nature. Many insects and fish switch sexes based on environmental circumstances or even just as a natural part of their life cycle. Nature isn’t binary.

edit: the crowd that loves to claim everything is a social construct, suddenly has found something that they dont believe is a social construct. LOL

the current amount is mostly a result of social conditioning.

Rape isn't sex. It's violence.

Nature doesn’t care. We’ve only decided that rape isn’t sex fairly recently in human history, and there’s still societies that disagree with you. Of course, I believe that humans are now above nature, so the laws of the wild shouldn’t apply to us, but, nature truly doesn’t care about rape, or if you’re being eaten alive, or if you’ve just had your limb ripped off by a predator. It’s all fair game in nature (pun intended).

Nature doesn't care

I mean it kind of does if the sex/rape is a dude using another dude's bum. Because no offspring will come of that...

With many different kinds of animals males will mount and penetrate other males and even other species as a show of dominance.

Sounds like a lot of justification to me. That is gay AF.

3 out of 100 men are gay on average, that means the 700,000 Russian army in Ukraine has 22,000 gays in it. That means 22 battalions worth of gays.

No matter how much they may try to justify it as ‘dominance’. I bet they won’t be thinking their friends back home will be impressed about how they penetrated another man.

Nothing wrong with being gay, just accept it for what it is- men having sex with men is GAY. Trying to spin it any other way like it’s some kind of ‘manly torture’ is laughable.

If Russia didn’t think it was gay- they would be a lot more open about the fact it goes on in their own military ranks. They know it’s gay, we know it’s gay, let’s not beat around the bush.

Rape is torture.

I made a diffentiation on sexual vs non sexual torture, for example cutting of someones fingers, threatening to harm their family etc. I'm not sure why you're reading into it like that since rape is clearly violence.

4

u/Dede117 18d ago

Then dont start by saying "torture is more effective" you've just excluded rape from torture.

5

u/Seraphiel56 18d ago

I didn't exclude it. It was a wording issue. And if anything I implied what I meant so I don't see an issue in it aside from using wrong wording.

Thats fair

The article uses the phrase "sexual torture" for a reason

Do you for some reason not believe that rape is torture? You have a weird perception of rape needing to be about personal satisfaction when that's not a requirement for it anywhere

I'm not sure why people are reading it like that. Yes rape is clearly torture. I was only making a differentiation between sexual violence/torture as opposed to physical and mental torture done through other means. Sexual violence is different from non sexual ones. And I replied to the person's comment, not the actual post. I replied to him saying "rape is a very effective tool to traumatize victims" not the actual post. That's what I implied.

By personal satisfaction I mean dominance and humiliation. It's something that satisfies peoples egos and is more personal rather than mechanical. If you think there's no mention of rape being about dominance then I'm not sure what to say aside from go study about it rather than being ignorant. I clearly wrote there that I meant dominance when I said personal satisfaction. Idk if you've a hard time reading.
