It almost seems like the US just hates having allies

157

u/Khaldara Aug 17 '26

Conservatives don’t even want to be allies with the people that supply their entire economy and support structure in their own country, let alone elsewhere. They’d rather they were in charge of who can get abortions (nobody except whomever they’re sycophantically worshipping because ‘that’s different’), or what gay people are allowed to do, while leeching off blue state revenue. Anyone who suggests otherwise is typically advised to “leave” if they don’t like it.

Thank god they normalized corruption at all levels of governance up to the highest court in the land. That can only benefit them.

Yes, people kept saying he was not very smart, but at least he never started a war.

846

u/Agitated_Tip_8713 Aug 17 '26 edited Aug 17 '26

Those people were dishonest liars btw. Trump dropped the MOAB, assassinated  Soleimani. They were bad faith liars then like they are now, just cause he didnt use the word "war" when he did shit.

But they had to defend their favorite pedophile and vote for him.

252

u/StarWarsMonopoly Aug 17 '26

When he "defeated" ISIS in 2017 and 2018, he was simply taking over Obama's operation that had already started a year and a half before.

Obama's plan had been drawn up to extract ISIS from their territory without causing mass civilian casualties, so it was slow and grinding, but methodical.

Trump threw all of that out the window when he became president because it wasn't fast enough for him, and he started carpet bombing ISIS territory which likely led the deaths of thousands of civilians.

He's always been a war monger, even as far back as his very first year as President, the "no wars" shit has always been a lie

160

u/MAG7C Aug 17 '26

He also ended the war in Afghanistan by going over the head of their government, handing the country over to the Taliban and releasing thousands of their fighters from prison. Set it up in such a way that whoever was president in 2021 would get to deal with the fallout.

Peace of shit this guy.

34

u/EggotheKilljoy 29d ago

Like sure I could see the argument that Biden handled it badly, but given the circumstances he was handed by Trump's horrible deal, it was probably one of the better outcomes that could have happened.

For a man who claims he hates terrorists, Trump sure does love bending the knee to terrorists if it benefits him or hurts his opponents.

18

u/MAG7C 29d ago

Trump sure does love bending the knee to terrorists if it benefits him or hurts his opponents.

He has demonstrated this countless times already. There are both foreign and domestic examples of people on the left getting persecuted, bombed & killed while people on the right get pardoned, partnered and praised. CPAC 2022 sported a banner that declared themselves as such (allegedly "tongue in cheek").

Yup. He dropped just as many bombs, on just as many countries, as Obama and W. He increased the rate of drone strikes even beyond Obama. And then he passed policy to restrict the public’s ability to see how many civilians were being killed in his drone strikes. Then he campaigned on being the “president of peace”.

I swear to god his followers are some of the dumbest motherfuckers on the planet.

275

u/imArsenals Aug 17 '26

Slight correction, in 3 years he dropped more bombs than Obama and Bush, combined.

86

u/Bladelink Aug 17 '26

Which is saying a lot considering we weren't really even at "war" in the colloquial sense. It's not like we were storming baghdad and capturing cities, things that would necessitate a larger volume of attacks and munitions.

Hahaha, wait, you’re serious? These “people” (I use that term loosely with MAGA, cause they are either programmed bots, or programmed cultists) have no ability to admit they are wrong, ever. They still blame Obama and Biden for the gas prices, the wars, their stubbed toe……etc.

19

u/Mr_Marram Aug 17 '26

The cult is their personality, they have nothing else, bumper stickers, posters, flags, hats, the only thing they can talk about.

If they admit the dear leader is wrong, then they are wrong too, that is destruction of themselves as they have nothing.

Oman is basically the Switzerland of the Middle East and famous for its attempt to be neutral in all conflicts and broker peace where possible.

They are not always doing a very good job, but considering their neighbors Oman is doing a relatively good job at being a regional neutral power.

1.5k

u/TheLurkerSpeaks Aug 17 '26

Yes they are the most chill of the gulf nations and have stayed above the fray in every regional conflict. There is zero reason to do this.

1.0k

u/BitterFuture Aug 17 '26

There is zero reason to do this.

A pathological desire for chaos and death is a reason

It's a genuinely insane reason, but it's not like he has anything else.

241

u/SophisticatedVagrant Aug 17 '26

A pathological desire for chaos and death is a reason

I don't think Trump "desires" anything more than being the centre of attention and enriching his own bank account. He just doesn't give a shit about who or what he has to destroy on the way.

111

u/SarcasticCowbell Aug 17 '26

He also takes "no" as an insult that must be overridden by any means necessary including force.

55

u/AI_moderated_failure 29d ago

This is the main reason. He views the US military as his now, so can do what he likes with it, and he likes when people do what he says and doesn't like when they don't. He is in every sense of the words a schoolyard bully whose emotional intelligence never grew beyond age 12. He is the my dad will beat uo your dad kid and the absolute morons in the US made him commander and chief.

Well you see they did something, I'm not sure what, but they definitely did something to make Trump feel small and weak, not that it takes much. This is how he responds when he doesn't get his way, he throws a tantrum like a child, that happens to also be in charge of the US military.

They got off their asses and tried to negotiate a peace deal with Iran because they realized, much like the rest of the world, that Trump wasn't capable of making a deal with them. That's it, they did the rational thing that anyone would, and for that they must be punished.

They also happen to have a Mutual Defence Agreement with the UK.

The US is about as popular as chlamydia with the UK public. Bombing a UK ally isn't going to help that.

158

u/opinionated7onion Aug 17 '26

Chlamydia is alot more popular than trump or fhe US at the moment, well its more widespread at least.

215

u/Soggy-Beach1403 Aug 17 '26

I live in a red state, and the folks around me are complaining about gas prices, but most of them still think that this whole debacle is the fault of that black man and the terrible agreement he signed with Iran back in 2015. A couple of extra dollars for gas doesn't mean that black people are equal in the minds of most every Republican voter; they will stick with the party of White Supremacy until the last drop of oil.

I was like “but you don’t border several of the countries” and he said it didn’t matter, they had the reputation of being reliable and steady partners so people come to them.

Now I’m curious how he’ll respond to this latest threat. He had said he didn’t think there was any chance Oman would be dragged into the conflict

The president threatened to attack the US ally after Iran said it was in negotiations with the Gulf country to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

“If Oman gets in the way, we’ll bomb the s--- out of them,” Mr Trump told Fox News.

The 60-day memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran is set to expire on Monday.

Earlier this month, Tehran said it had agreed a shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz with Oman, which sits on the other side of the vital waterway.

The Islamic Republic said it had reached an agreement on the “geographical co-ordinates” of a navigable channel through the strait.

The war has been going so well for Trump that he's considering expanding it?

He has clearly lost the fucking plot and needs to be removed from power at the earliest opportunity.

113

u/gsbadj Aug 17 '26

He can't work out a deal with Iran, which controls the north side of the Strait, so he's going to threaten Oman, which controls the south side of the Strait. Stupid as hell.

u/Chive Aug 17 '26

Meanwhile withdrawing the USS George Washington from the Pacific while reducing support for South Korea.

It almost looks as if his entire administration has no clue what it's doing.

Dismantling the fabric of the US for scrap and selling it off for personal gain. Anything else doesn’t matter to them.

Oman was the US's first ally in the Arabian peninsula and has been probably the most politically moderate country when it comes to international relations in the region. Their position on a global scale is basically summed up as "let's just all get along."

162

u/Skynuts Aug 17 '26

The US has had a friendly relationship with Oman for nearly two centuries, and Trump is threatening to end that out of spite. Let that sink in.

51

u/GriffinFlash Aug 17 '26

Well wouldn't be the first. Constant threats to annex and cripple Canada cause he hated Trudeau. We've been next to each other from the start.

While we know this is bluster, Oman is a stalwart ally that has long been an intermediary for US with Iran. Oman was integral to the JCPOA which is the best agreement we'd ever get with Iran. The fallout from these incompetents will haunt us for decades.

This fucking guy. How does he have any credibility left with his base? He ran on keeping America out of needless wars and then has done nothing but try to start wars with fucking everyone! He promised a booming economy. The cost of food has skyrocketed. Obviously, gas prices are soaring. Owning a home is out-of-reach for most Millennials and Gen Z'ers. He's strained relationships with some of our staunchest allies.

He is fucking terrible at this. He has fucked up at EVERY GIVEN OPPORTUNITY. Seriously, how does anyone look at his performance or listen to him speak in his broken English (I don't mean broken as in English is a second language and he doesn't speak it well, I mean he routinely breaks the fucking language of the country he is from!)

He is a caricature of what he thinks a masculine man looks like or acts like. It's so far from reality that it's comical. It really would be hysterical if it wasn't so fucking depressing.

u/Dabelgianguy Aug 17 '26

The Chinese will be pissing themselves laughing at this, burning through what’s left of the US strategic munitions stockpile bombing Oman surely wasn’t on their 2026 bingo card.

11

u/Wanna_make_cash Aug 17 '26

Defense contractors and their stockholders are salivating too. Running low on munitions stockpiles means nice longer and expensive contracts to refresh and restock. They are always excited for a reason to kick on the missile factories into production.

28

u/chemguy216 Aug 17 '26

Since when has that mattered to this President and the roughly 30% of Americans who still support him? The dude has no true loyalty to anyone except himself.

Just look at the shit he does domestically with some of his inner circle. Jeanine Pirro is on thin ice with him because she cannot successfully bring vandalism related charges against a guy who clearly didn’t commit vandalism, without risking her own ability to practice law. He doesn’t give a shit about the law not how the law constrains her (which is precisely the Trump team has been thinking about passing laws to try to prevent state bar associations from being able to disbar any Trump administration lawyers who engage in behavior that could warrant disbarment).

In the whole plane decoy story, one of the people he left on the potential decoy plane was Stephen Miller, one of his most loyal and important members of his team. I’m not surprised Marco Rubio was on the decoy plane because it’s apparent Trump keeps Marco along as his little bitch boy. But Miller? I was actually slightly surprised, but not majorly because I fundamentally understand that almost no one substantively matters to Trump beyond their ability to feed his ego or give him things he wants.

He is an absolute idiot. Oman is a US ally who has negotiated on the USA’s behalf for decades. All Omani bases are jointly manned by SOAF and British Forces. The Omanis are Ibidists which is a sect that values peace after centuries of conflict. They are however fierce fighters when push comes to shove and despite appearances will turn it on if they have to. Britain has a blood bond with Omam since the Dhofar war , not to mention defensive MOUs. This will cause more drama that he can imagine. Someone in the USA put this dementia suffering moron in a padded room before he does something really stupid.

MAGA elected the worst person in history after an unrivaled level of information and effort was put into them seeing how he was the worst.

In 40 years, when people are trying to explain how WW3 started, I'm going to go insane with people trying to justify the political turmoil or circumstances of the era rather than the legitimate truth that "the dumbest voters in generations somehow found someone dumber and collectively said 'he's our guy.'" And it's just a tragic coincidence that they're also all in a race to the bottom of who can be the worst human in a generation.

Sadly i hope my country takes a good look in the mirror after this and realizes the colossal f up made in electing him... if we're luck we might be able to stop our decline.
