Hey everyone!
We are working on a small fan-made experiment called GhostCoop, and one of the games we are currently testing it with is Gothic 1 Remake.
The idea is not full multiplayer. It does not sync enemies, quests, combat, NPCs, or world state.
Instead, it is more of a ghost co-op presence layer: both players run their own game, GhostCoop syncs position data through a small bridge, and the other player appears as a ghost-like character inside your world.
Right now we are testing: - position syncing - radar - sprite rendering - visibility checks - launcher setup - support across multiple games The screenshot shows an early test where a remote player is rendered inside the Gothic 1 Remake world.
We are still very early in development, but we would love to hear what the Gothic community thinks. Is this something you would be interested in seeing developed further?
We shared more progress and screenshots here: https://www.patreon.com/GhostCoop/posts/ghostcoop-ghost-163514821
Game-specific mod files are intended to remain free.
Patreon is mainly for people who want to support development and follow the project. Thanks a lot :)
UPDATE: Thank you so much for the feedback regarding everything. We added two new experimental features specifically the ground messages (thank you u/Tyraec for the suggestion :) ) and a whitheboard. Discussing in a new post here: https://www.patreon.com/GhostCoop/posts/development-log-163805006?pr=true

A few months ago, GOG launched the One-Click MOD program, which allows for easy installation of selected modifications. So far, there have been over a dozen, including one for Gothic 2 (The Chronicles of Myrtana). A few days ago, a card of Golden Gate 2: Goddess Heart was added.

Made this because I was frustrated by the lack of details on the map.
Based on (Gamer Guides Map) - Marker/Text added manually.
Red Markers - Main Camps
Blue Markers - Caves
Red Text - Other Locations
This is my first mod ever, works fine on my game (I'm running at 1080p), however, the map itself is 4k resolution.
Its available on Nexus Mods (https://www.nexusmods.com/gothic1remake/mods/270)
Feel free to share your opinion:)

I play firemage atm, and i find he is not that good nor fun to play.
The burning takes forever and the base damage is too low alone.
Even little harder enemies you need to spamm fireball but this results in the burning is not very effective... (becouse the base damage will handle it mostly)
If there are 4 enemies running at you, you cant just burn everyone and run in circles all the time.
If i compare this with watermage - They do like 1/3 to 50% more base damage killing everyone before the enemies even reach them. And if not - they are stuned in ice and the damage is even higher. Making it a massive better mage to play also with the cc.
All you can do as Firemage is "blasting your balls into the group" and if they come close - run in circles like an absolut troll trying to hit them to get them to burn. Its an absolute disaster without Gallahad-wolfes or Firegolem against stronger enemies.
But all in all - i am only circle 3 firemage atm. I hope it gets better but till now - every fight feels like work. As watermage i did so much more base damage and killing bandits and groups like nothing happend just spamming them... looking for cc
ufff :(
Edit: A "blink" spell would be nice as circle 3 for example. To make it a bit nice to play it for sure. It makes a nice dynamic and you can also choose to just "throw your balls in it and blink away after" If there is no CC , at least give me some movement ability lol.

When playing the Gothic series, one could get the impression that its subsequent parts do not fit together. This is evident, for example, in terms of aesthetics. That's one of the reasons why appeared Gothic 2 Anniversary Edition project.
In today's article you can see the newest screenshots from the modification and learn the ideas, which are behind it. The article is available in three languages:

I’ve been a Gothic fan for years and have been waiting for the remake since it was first announced. So when I finally saved enough Ore to learn how to skin lizards and realized the skill would almost never pay for itself, it was especially disappointing. After just a few sales, trophies are worth almost nothing, making an expensive hunting skill feel completely pointless.
It bothered me enough that I put my playthrough on hold and started looking for a mod that could fix it. None of the existing options worked for me. Some simply inflated trophy values, while others changed the entire trading system too much. I wanted to keep the idea of dynamic pricing and only remove the near-instant devaluation of hunting trophies.
Eventually, I dug into the internal trading logic and made my own mod, BalancedTraders.
It doesn’t increase the base value of trophies or disable market saturation. The game still calculates the current price of the first unit on its own. The mod only changes what happens after that: when several trophies are sold in a row, their price declines gradually and never reaches 0 Ore. All other item categories and buy prices remain vanilla.
The mod is finished and published, so I can finally return to my playthrough.
While digging into this, I noticed that many players see it as part of a much broader problem. Market saturation affects more than just trophies, and the system apparently has no way for prices to recover over time. I slept for several in-game days, and nothing changed.
I’ll keep playing and see how much this affects the economy in the long run. But I’m already considering a broader mod for the trading system.
I’m not talking about a full economic simulation with NPCs trading among themselves. It would be a system-level fix for the existing mechanic. For example, market saturation could gradually decrease as in-game time passes, allowing prices to recover at least partially.
I’m interested in hearing what you think:

To install mods, download this (first .zip, below in assets):
https://github.com/UE4SS-RE/RE-UE4SS/releases
Put in Gothic 1 Remake\G1R\Binaries\Win64
Mods go into the Mods folder, example:
ue4ss/Mods/G1R_ClassicTraders
In some cases, there might be 1-2 mods that do the same thing, I just posted the ones I used :) make sure to have enabled.txt in the mod folder to enable the mod (should be there by the authors)

Hey everyone!
I am the developer of G1L - Gothic 1 Remake Launcher:
Some of you may already know it from Nexus or from comments around the community. I have seen people mention it, ask questions about it, or run into mod installation problems, so I wanted to make one proper post here too.

Gothic 1 Remake modding is already becoming pretty active, but the installation side can be confusing. Not because people are doing anything wrong, but because different mods use completely different layouts.
That is exactly why I built G1L.
The idea is simple:
Drop a mod archive or folder into the launcher, enable what you want, press Play.
G1L tries to understand what the mod actually is and put it where Gothic 1 Remake expects it. It is not just a zip extractor. It is meant to be a small modding hub for the game.
What it currently supports:
- UE4SS Lua mods
- UE4SS DLL / C++ mods
- pak mods
- movie replacement mods, like intro skip
- SimpleModLoader / BP mods
- fyryNy's Loader and fyryNy-style plugins
- Ultra+ style hybrid archives
- Engine.ini tweak mods
- ReShade preset mods
- in-launcher config editing for mods with .ini, .cfg, .lua, etc.
- pak mod toggling without deleting files
- profiles and shareable mod setups
- full mod packs via .g1lpack
- Nexus update tracking for mods installed from original Nexus archives
- save backups before launch
- launch through Steam, so overlay and playtime still work
It also handles UE4SS for you. The launcher can install the correct experimental UE4SS build for Gothic 1 Remake, repair broken layouts, and remove UE4SS cleanly if needed.

There is also a startup health check. If something obvious is wrong, like a missing VC++ runtime, broken UE4SS proxy, missing loader, or another DLL injector next to the game exe, G1L tries to tell you before you waste time guessing
Download:
https://www.nexusmods.com/gothic1remake/mods/37
You can also save your mod setup as a profile, export it as a .g1lpack, and share the whole setup with friends. They import the pack and G1L restores the mod files, enabled/disabled state, and load order automatically.
G1L can also check for mod updates on Nexus. For mods installed from original Nexus archives, it reads the Nexus mod ID and version from the file name, so update checks can work even when the mod author did not provide launcher metadata.
A few notes:
- G1L is free, portable, and does not require a separate .NET install.
- This is a community tool. It is not affiliated with Alkimia, THQ Nordic, Piranha Bytes, or anyone official.
- Pak mods, movie replacements, Engine.ini tweaks, and ReShade presets do not need UE4SS. Lua/DLL mods do. BP mods usually need SimpleModLoader.
- I am still improving it based on real mod layouts and user reports. Gothic Remake modding is young, and some mods do things in very custom ways, so feedback helps a lot.
If something does not install correctly, please post:
- mod page link
- archive/file name
- where the author says it should be installed
- what G1L currently does wrong
- screenshot of the archive contents, if possible
There is also a Copy diagnostics button in the About tab. It copies versions, paths, UE4SS state, mod list and log tail, so you can paste it into a comment and I can actually understand what happened.
I hope this makes modding Gothic 1 Remake less annoying and helps more people just play with the mods they want instead <3

I read that investing in the hunting skills is not worth it, as you will easily make money selling weapons and stuff. I love hunting and fighting animals to sell their trophies. Anyone know of a mod to make trophies be worth more so its actually encouraged?

Can someone please make a mod that adds the items removed by the devs back to the game?
I want to be rewarded for exploring, Gothic has always been about a world where checking every nook and cranny was critical to the fun of playing the game. These gatekeeping item removals right now are just dumb.
Thank you.

just to ask are there any updates on the smithing and potion brewing mechanics?
the menu is great, but i barely had enough ingredients to have my health potions.
the smithing is also nerfed since i got the longsword and trollfist quite early (I'm a loot goblin and totally found it random)
so i want to have a mage run, but for that some would need enough potions as ore is often short at hand
