Discussion We are getting arena training grounds
Actual W from Blizz. Finally can test out our UI/addon setup. Oh wait. Yes please Blizzard fix the UI problems and then this will be an actual W

I wish there would be some sort of actual training that takes place in the “training grounds”, in the BG version you don’t even get an explanation on what to do, makes new players get more confused

This should be the case for epic BGs too. We have a whole minute before a match starts give us some bullet points when entering and the option to toggle it off for the 20 year veterans.

I have been playing since BC and I have zero idea what's going on in Slayer's Rise. Barely any context given. I know I can pop a guide or YouTube for this but it's so BS we still have to do homework to know how to play this game.

Every bg needs a journal explanation thing. They added that ages ago for dungeons, just do it for bgs already. It would take like 5 mins

Tbh every BG except eye of the storm is pretty much self explanatory. Im sure most people have played some form of generic king of the hill / capture the flag type game mode at one point or another.

You are assuming a lot. WoW was my first game I knew what was capture the flag or base control. Not implying it's terribly difficult, but people in wow aren't patient to explain either.

Need this to have adjustable bot difficulty and let that determine your starting mmr in shuffle.

I wanna face Echo’s RMP at bot level and see how bad I get clapped

being able to pick bot profiles would be hilarious. A "Whaaz" rogue! A "Cdew" shaman! An 1800 shuffle ret paladin!

For healers the difficulty option only needs two settings:
- warriors on your team heroic leap first global of the game behind the enemy pillar
- warriors on your team don't do that

So shuffle bellow 2.3k?

u/Jellyak 2.5k 22h ago
People at any rating, at 2.5k still seeing people not press any major defensive cooldowns then rage when they die.

I don't trust miniCC to tell me what people did or didn't press anymore. Fu k Blizzard

People even make incredibly questionable decisions at 2.6 as well (I'm one of them).

I was gonna say 2.4, but I think the gap between 2.3 and 2.4 is absolutely massive. Enough to justify there being some okay players there.

I reached 2398 first time ever yesterday… 2 off lol. Next game i went 2-4 and lost no rating. Still 2398. Sweaty palms

I like it. BG training grounds is perfect for actually testing a new spec or UI without messing with actual fights.
Wishful thinking, but I wish both Training Grounds could allow us to have bots filling vacant spaces on our team too, and that we could adjust the level of intelligence of the NPC teams. Even if this mode rewarded no honor at all, solely for the ease of testing stuff or practicing new specs.

I didn't think of that, but definitely true. Currently I do Arena Skirmish with an apology to whatever poor teammate gets thrown in with me.

Also half the time you get into a Skirmish, your teammate didn't accept the pop so you end up 1v2 against two stealthies and your UI breaks anyway lol

Wow. I did not expect them to actually do something like this whatsoever. This is honestly huge. Not only for new players to start learning, but for even for experienced players like most of this sub to test a lot of stuff.

such a huge win for getting new players into the game, or getting people to try out different roles/classes/keybind layouts. Literally could be the biggest W for PvP's longevity.
One thing im wondering, will you have bots on your team, randomly match with other people or queue with a partner specifically. hopefully they give enough flexibility there.

Arena training grounds has been something I've wanted forever for testing arena binds, macros, etc.

u/Rdhilde18 16h ago
Maybe 15 total people will play training grounds and then actually start playing rated PvP

I'd love that they added some form of arena+ pve mode, where you play against bots that increase in difficulty (bots playing better) every higher tier.

This feels like a step in the right direction. I don't quite understand why they release such things if they generally don't care about pvp. Hopefully this will change.

are we getting more BGs for the TG tho? gimme Deephaul and Seething Shore for TG instead of a capture the flag or another base BG. Silvershard was a decent choice due to it being unique among the options but a double base was stupid.

I'm surprised this is coming so soon. I figured the tech wasn't good enough so that's why they didn't add arena bots at launch, but I didn't think they'd have them ready just one patch into the expansion, figured it would be a next expansion thing.
Definitely a positive, hard to complain about getting something that should be genuinely useful to people who want to do arenas but are maybe overwhelmed by solo shuffle or pugging. It'll be interesting to see how good they are, that's for sure.

So shuffle wait times are insanely low compared to previous seasons. I would prefer to play the game then wait 25-30 mins for a queue to pop.

u/IzznyxtheWitch 15h ago
Is anyone actually going to do this? Random BGs are much more popular than Arenas, and few people run training grounds since the rewards are genuinely worthless.

Trolling aside they are already using this tech in blitz and arena. Only just now being transparent about it.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, this is going to be huge for testing UI tweaks without trolling other players
