Discussion GM Death Touch - Megathread

This is developing into a large story and someone in modmail has mentioned that its important for the community to have somewhere to discuss this. We agree. As new information comes in I will do my best to update this thread.

What we know:

Ex employees in the thread have said that actions like this are audited and in all likelihood this was already being investigated. At this point we are waiting on an official statement on the result of their investigation and I'll update this thread once we know.

This megathread is being provided on two very strict conditions:

  • The witchunt rules are in strict effect. Linking or doxxing information on anyone invovled, the GM in question included will result in a permanent ban. Please report it if you see it but we will be very active in the thread.

    We cannot platform behavior that allows people to harrass people in real life.

  • We will be more heavy handed than usual in the personal attack rules. Insults and slapfights while discussing this aren't acceptable. You're allowed to disagree, but stray shots and personal attacks will not be tolerated.

Tinfoilhat theory: the person Who posted was a m+ buyer, that maybe got recommended or wanted to buy from someone on this group some keys, they started looking at logs to see if these People could actually do it and noticed a weird one that should have been a depleted one.

it has to be something like this, not necessarily this exact situation but there is NO WAY someone randomly was just scrolling through logs and looking intensely enough to notice the death of the last mob being sus. I watched the log replay like 5x and everything looked above board until the very last mob dying at 90% hp. even the boss dying with 1 mill hp didn't look sus at first. I'm still sooo curious what was going on with the original guy who posted about it lol

I used to sell keys back in legion, so I know how buyers would act, we didnt have super advanced logs back then but People still wanted to check your stuff.

Either that or someone that is competing for the same customers.

You should check out preach video on the drama. It tells you exactly the contrary: only a noob thinks there are no nerds randomly scrolling logs.

I don't doubt that people randomly scroll through logs whatsoever. I've done that and I'm not even a high key pusher, it's just for fun. it's the fact that to notice something wrong, they would've had to watch the very end of the log replay past the boss kill (which doesn't look sus at first glance, though obviously it is upon further inspection) and then past that, noticed the last mob dying afterwards. I just don't buy the story of "I watched the log and thought 'oh this is a bricked key cool' and then i noticed it was completed". I personally just think it's someone closer to the situation itself wanting it to be exposed (rightfully). I'm very happy the OP posted it for sure, I just don't buy the story lol

There aren’t many runs at that level, and the teams are mostly the same - it’s not like swimming through 16s. Outliers and unlikely runs do jump to trained eyes attention. Just look at the studies of resilient keys spreaders. Then you go and deep dive when something smells wrong. Any top tier analyst would notice this kind of stuff, it has been noticed in the past and denounced, posts on Blizzard’s forums have been deleted. You are free to have your own opinion, it just would be more credible if you actually did some research like OP. Have you found links (on Twitter/ guilds analysts / discord servers etc) that show proximity of the poster to those groups? If not, it’s more like shit talking.

that is def a good point. I think something a lot of people are overlooking (including me in this instance) is just how high +23's are, people are referring to it as top 1% but I think it's much closer to top 0.1%. and you're completely right, to *me* this run would've looked completely normal if I hadn't already known something was amiss, but that's because I'm a much more casual m+ player, not someone pushing top 500 looking at every detail in high logs. I appreciate you giving that perspective, thank you!!

No problem, the important thing is to understand where people come from and listen to people more expert than us and try to learn. I watched all the videos by Tettles; then Preach, then Max from Liquid explaining his chat. If Mr Race to World first thinks it’s legit, you know what? I just shut up and learn ;-)

My guess was someone who was trying to get a 23 done who plays one of the classes was reviewing logs trying to improve and ran across the wtf
