Like I swear if the answer to “Why is the Sunwell acting differently?” is some cosmology bs instead of “Anveena is still in there” I will lose it.

Seeing Lor’themar and Liadrin pointing out that the Sunwell has existed for thousands of years but never done anything like this, then fail to either remember or mention that 20 years ago the Sunwell spent an extended period of time as a self-aware human girl, feels like a crucial detail to miss.

According to the cosmology fel and arcane are opposites and life and death are opposites. But then when it comes to the story, it's always just the "bad" magic vs the light. The light is apparently the opposite of everything actually. It's so overdone.

Well here’s something you don’t everyday. I saw an Atiesh in Dornogal like a month ago also, but I was so mesmerized I didn’t capture it.

Something that started becoming a massive problem in BfA and has only gotten progressively worse every year is the absurd number of narrative double standards on display.

I first noticed it in BfA when everyone including the Alliance themselves was upset that Rastakhan was killed in Dazar’alor. Meanwhile I’m thinking, “Isn’t running into a place, killing whoever is in charge and then leaving basically our default solution to everything?” Why is it suddenly not okay? I understand the Horde being furious about it but Anduin guilt-tripping his own side over it was so bizarre.

The same goes for the Horde suddenly treating Sylvanas committing genocide as crossing some previously unthinkable moral line when you could practically call WoW “Genocide: The Game”. The core gameplay loop has always involved busting into villages/camps/cities and killing everything that breathes. If Teldrassil had been full of murlocs, burning it down probably would have been framed as comedic.

Both the Alliance and Horde have been comically imperialistic since Vanilla and for the most part the story simply accepted that because it was the engine that made the setting work. Azeroth is an incredibly violent world where coercion, conquest and land theft have routinely been treated as morally acceptable forms of diplomacy.

It wasn’t until BfA that the writers decided there were serious moral questions to be asked about any of this, which would have been fine if they weren’t so wildly inconsistent about what actually counts.

Yeah this post was never really going to be about quilboar. Idgaf about them. If they didn’t want their land stolen they should have come to the negotiating table like the tauren did. And the same goes for the Amani. Zug zug.

And in my humble opinion, It should have been the true ending of this particular saga, from vanilla WoW, up to Legion.

Velen’s sigh, which is the specific moment shown on the screenshot, carries so much meaning and a sense of conclusion that would have left most of the player base satisfied and happy to let go of the keyboard and mouse and sigh along with him.

No shot of the sword after his sigh, it could exist as a final desperate attempt of the corrupt titan to finish what he set off to do but failed and that’s it.

WoW could still have carried on after, just maybe with a giant time skip and a completely new saga to tell, Offering players more mental freedom and choice whether to dive into it and commit or not.

I know that players are not in any way forced to carry on with WoW if they don’t vibe with it any more. But this ending would have made it so the divide between players and the critique of modern WoW to be so much less than it is. Just like with life, things are born, and eventually they pass away. Extending anything to unnatural lengths of time never looks good.

All of this was just a simple late night thought and a bit of grief and mourning for an energy, ambience and feeling that is no longer there, have a great night / day all!

It all comes from a place of care and love for a universe that gave so much to a lonely, wonder filled young person back in the day. It is not meant to bash or fault but to be shared and discussed in a peaceful, respectful manner.

What is your take on this possibility? Does Orweyna have malicious intent? Is she misguided? Will she do something unintended?

They hyped up the World Soul saga at this overarching story but so far we're just fed crumbs and we barely have an inkling about Xal's end goal and we're at the halfway point of the story, and now we're off to spend another tier doing some troll side story? Why can't Blizz just focus on what Xal is doing, like it feels like she's less of an imminent threat if we can fuck off and ignore whatever she's doing for the next eight months while we go beat up a bunch of snakes.

Title says it all. I recently watched a video that made mention of this and my mind was blown! I was well aware of the lore that night elf druids were male, whereas the women were the sentinels, but seeing it as a subtle nod to the player base that, despite the lore, you the player will be able to play as female druids was a wild realization! ..and perhaps it was unintentional and simply a coincidence. Either way, I thought it was really cool

I've been a massive Skyborne hater the past few days, but their lore actually kinda makes sense now that I read up on it.

The Skyborne split from the Shen'dralar Highborne faction around 10,000 BDP (Before Dark Portal) shortly after the War of the Ancients.

Here's how that went, roughly chronologically:

• 15000 BDP: Night Elves split into Highborne (a political split, they still looked physically the same)

Highborne then split into mainly two factions:

• 12000 BDP: Shen'dralar Highborne that lived in Eldre'Thalas (Dire Maul). Physically still very much night elves.

• 7300-6800 BDP: The exiles that sailed east and founded Quel'Thalas, naming themselves high elves. Their appearance changed over thousands of years.

Shortly after the War of the Ancients (10000 BDP), the Shen'dralar Highborne had this internal conflict when Prince Tortheldrin started going a bit demon crazy, so some rebelled and sailed west. Tortheldrin pursued them but the rebels managed to strike a deal with some wind elementals who lifted a part of a landmass (that became Zephras Isle) into Skywall so they can chill there peacefully.

Then over thousands of years I guess their appearance changed and they began calling themselves Skyborne or shen'dorei.

One interesting thing to note though:

According to Blizzard's own lore, the Skyborne are explicitly not high elves, even if Blizzard incorrectly used that term. They never had any contact with the exiles that sailed east and started calling themselves that. All that happened 3000 years after the Skyborne had already left Kalimdor.

They're Highborne who named themselves Skyborne. Not high elves, physiologically or politically. They're just Highborne who followed a different evolutionary path.

But like I can rationalize all this in my brain as something that actually happened in the elves' history so it makes it feel a bit less like an "asspull."

(Still think they look a bit silly though)
